Mommo the Magnificent has left on a great adventure. Ruby Ellen Driscoll Phillips died Friday September 16, 2022 in Tulsa, OK. She was born December 21, 1929 in Bixby, OK to James C. and Minnie Jane Burns Driscoll. The snow was deep and the doctor had to spend the night.

She attended Bixby schools most of her life, played football there during World War II and graduated in 1947. She met the love of her life, George W Phillips while visiting relatives in Susanville, CA. They were married soon after on November 9, 1952. They had three children- Terry Lynn, born in 1953, Logan in 1956 and Lance in 1959. After early moves, they settled in southwest Tulsa and she remained there until 2005. All of her children graduated from Webster High School and she was actively involved in all of their sports and activities, becoming , along with Ann Fairless, the first female boys’ sports coaches in Blue T history. In the June Cleaver world of the 1950’s and 60’s she worked outside the home and was a feminist before they coined the term. (She wore pearls, but never to vacuum.) She retired from American Airlines and during her time there became the first woman officer in the Transport Workers Union. After 2005, she moved to Mounds, near her childhood home.
