TWU FILES INTERNATIONAL GRIEVANCE AGAINST AMERICAN AIRLINES OVER CONTRACT VIOLATIONS RE. PREFUNDING MATCH

TWU-Intl-BlackTWU FILES INTERNATIONAL GRIEVANCE AGAINST AMERICAN AIRLINES OVER CONTRACT VIOLATIONS RE. PREFUNDING MATCH

General Release for All American Airlines Active and Retired Employees:

Yesterday, the TWU filed an International Grievance under the American Airlines System Board in response to the New American Airlines’ violation of its collective bargaining agreements with all seven TWU-represented contract groups.

The contracts the TWU negotiated with the company during the bankruptcy process clearly state that active employees who participated in the retiree prefunding medical plan are entitled to a refund of the company’s contributions to the prefunding trust funds.

The New American Airlines has informed us they have no plan to respect this portion of the agreements that we signed back in September of 2012 concerning the prefunding match. We have the prefunding match in writing — in the contract!

You can be confident that the TWU is using all possible means to bring a speedy end to this violation and enforce the existing contracts.

TWU fully expects that the System Board will stand behind our members and direct the company to refund all of the money owed to the active employees who agreed to give up their retiree medical plan in order to obtain those matching funds.

Please direct all questions to your Local officers, and look out for future communications from the TWU International staff. We will provide updates as we move forward in resolving this situation.

Thank you for your patience and support. Know that the TWU is fighting to get you every cent you are owed!
