On Saturday, May 7, Columbus TWU members hit the streets, setting up shop outside TWU Local 208, where they gathered 250 more signatures to get a referendum on the ballot to VOTE NO on the anti-collective bargaining bill SB 5, and registered 7 more voters. Akron TWU members are planning to duplicate the same success.
Akron’s Local 1 has already trained 38 of its members to circulate petitions, and has registered 26 people to vote. Local 208 has trained 57 petition circulators and registered upwards of 30 people to vote.
Members are also mobilizing their churches and other community organizations around this urgent human rights issue. In short, TWU Ohio is steadily moving the ball down the field towards the June 30 goal line.
