Election Season is here once again, and registered voters will have the chance to vote for President, members of Congress, and a number of state and county officers. The primary election is past, but in Oklahoma the runoff primary election is on Aug. 28, and the general election will be Nov. 6. In Oklahoma, any resident 18 years or older who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to vote. Voter registration is easy – and so are changes in a voter’s name, address or political affiliation. All can be accomplished with the simple and easy Oklahoma Voter Registration Form. These forms now are available at the offices of Frasier, Frasier & Hickman, LLP.

1. How do I register to vote in Oklahoma?

It’s easy. Just complete a voter registration form and send it in. You must sign and date the oath printed on the form. When you sign the voter registration application form, you swear that you are eligible to register
to vote.

You also may obtain an application on- line here: http://www.tulsacounty.org/TulsaCounty/dynamic.aspx?id=640 .You can also get the form at most post offices and public libraries, or you can complete one at County Election Board offices and tag agencies.

2. How do I change my name, address or political affiliation on my voter registration?

To make any changes to your voter registration, send in a new voter registration application. You cannot make changes in your voter registration online or by telephone.

3. I lost my Voter ID card. How do I get a replacement?

Request a replacement Voter ID card from the County Election Board in the county where you are registered to vote.

4. When do I register?

You may submit your voter registration application form at anytime prior to an election. If your registration application is received by the county election board during the 24 days before an election, you will not receive your voter identification card until after the election.

If you will become 18 during the 60 days before an election, you may apply for voter registration between 25 and 60 days before the election.

5. Who is Eligible to Vote?

A person who is eligible to register to vote must be at least 18 years old, a United States citizen and a resident of the State of Oklahoma.

6. How do Change My Registration?

If you need to change your name, address, or political affiliation, you must fill out another voter registration application form. You may change your registration at any time with one exception. You may not change your affiliation during the period from April 1st through August 31st, inclusive, in any even-numbered year. The last day on which you may change your political affiliation before the closed period is March 31st, the first day on which you may change your political affiliation after the closed period is September 1st.
