Daron Morgan: Week of September 18th, 2026

GRIEVANCE REPORT

  • Open Grievances: 174
  • Resolved This Week: 0
  • Resolved MTD: 7
  • Resolved QTD: 15
  • Resolved YTD: 116

I currently have two grievances that the Company has agreed to pay, but the payments have not yet been made. I will continue to track these grievances until the members receive the money they are owed. Once payment has been received, I will close those grievances out and update my numbers accordingly.

An agreement to pay is progress—but the grievance isn’t finished until our members actually receive their money.

SAFETY CORNER

ASAP — KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND USE THE PROGRAM

I want to revisit something we have talked about before: ASAP — the Aviation Safety Action Program.

ASAP exists to encourage employees to voluntarily report safety issues, errors, events, and concerns so they can be identified and corrected before they lead to something more serious. If you believe you have been involved in an event that could qualify for ASAP, don’t wait—get your ASAP report submitted as soon as possible.

This is especially important because the Company’s own GPM 11.05 Event Investigation Policy lays out a formal process management is expected to follow when investigating maintenance errors, violations, incidents, accidents, and non-compliance events. The policy specifically states that management is to follow the Company’s Just Policy procedures.

The procedure also requires management to collect the facts surrounding the event. That can include identifying the personnel involved, taking photographs, impounding damaged parts, conducting interviews, securing work records, and gathering the applicable work cards, aircraft technical manual references, and other documentation related to how the task was supposed to be performed.

Here’s another important point: Form 10098—the Just Policy for Maintenance Errors and Violations Investigating Manager/Supervisor Checklist—must be completed within 12 hours of the event. Safety Investigations and Regulatory Compliance then review that form and determine whether an MEAA investigation is required.

Why does this matter to our members?

Because when an event occurs, management’s investigation process may begin very quickly. Your responsibility is to protect yourself just as quickly.

If you believe the event is ASAP-reportable, don’t assume someone else is going to tell you to file. Don’t wait until you’re sitting in an investigation days later wondering whether you should have submitted one.

When in doubt, contact your Union Representative and ask about ASAP.

ASAP and the Company’s investigation process are not the same thing. The Company’s GPM tells management how to investigate an event. ASAP gives employees a mechanism to voluntarily report safety information through the ASAP process.

Our goal should always be to identify what happened, understand why it happened, and prevent it from happening again. A strong safety culture isn’t built by employees being afraid to report mistakes or hazards. It’s built when employees speak up, hazards are identified, procedures are improved, and everyone learns from the event.

Don’t wait until an investigation starts to think about ASAP. If something happens—protect yourself, protect your coworkers, and protect the operation. Report it.

Safety isn’t about blame. It’s about preventing the next event.

Every grievance we fight, every safety issue we raise, every member we help, and every time we stand up for the Contract is a reminder of why this Union matters.

Local 514 isn’t a building, a title, or a handful of elected officers. Local 514 is every member who puts on the uniform, punches the clock, does the job, and expects to be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

As we move closer to negotiations next year, our greatest strength will not come from any one person sitting across the bargaining table. It will come from the thousands of members standing together behind that table.

Management may have the authority to run the operation, but we have a Contract because generations of Union members stood together and fought for it. The wages, benefits, seniority rights, overtime protections, and working conditions we have today didn’t happen by accident. They were earned through solidarity, sacrifice, and members refusing to stand alone.

We may not always agree on everything—and we don’t have to. But when it comes to protecting our work, our Contract, and one another, we must stand together.

One member can raise their voice. Thousands of members standing together can move an industry.

Stay informed. Stay involved. Stand together.

80 YEARS STRONG.

BUILT BY OUR MEMBERS.

POWERED BY SOLIDARITY.

READY FOR THE FIGHT AHEAD.

In Solidarity,
TWU Local 514
America’s Fightback Union
