Applications are now available from the Michael J Quill Scholarship Fund for fifteen (15) more college scholarships worth $4,800 each over a four (4) year time period. These scholarships will be paid out per year in the amount of $1,200 to winners who continue to be eligible over their four (4) year course. In addition, Union Benefit Planners has again gladly agreed to sponsor an additional five (5) scholarships worth $2,400 each paid out as a single scholarship.
The deadline for all applications will be Monday, May 5, 2014; no applications RECEIVED after this date will be accepted. Winners of the scholarships will be determined by a public drawing to be held in May 2014. Winners will be notified by mail 5-7 days thereafter.
Also, in addition to the Michael J Quill Scholarship, TWU, Local 514 will be giving away three (3) scholarships totaling $4,800 each over a four (4) year time period. All rules and guidelines for the Michael J Quill scholarships apply to the TWU, Local 514 scholarship. A separate application is not necessary. Just fill out the Michael J Quill Scholarship application and if your child does not win one, then their name will automatically be submitted for the TWU, Local 514 scholarship. The drawing will be held immediately following the Michael J Quill Scholarship drawing. Winners’ names will be posted as soon as we receive them.

How does an applicant qualify?
The applicant must be certified twice. First, a TWU Local must certify the facts that make the applicant eligible. Secondly, the principal of the high school must attest to the fact that the applicant is capable of doing college work. The applicant must comply with the Rules of the Scholarship Fund, available upon request.

How is the scholarship paid?
The scholarship money is paid directly to the college or university that the successful applicant attends.
