Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:
Contractors VS AA employees
I’m sure you’ve noticed how many times the plating shop has been evacuated in the past 2 weeks or how our facility has been colder the last 2 years then in the previous years.
I won’t get into specifics unless asked personally, but all of the current issues AA is having is due to improper installation or poor design by the contractors AA has hired.
In the past AA had enough FMG employees to install any and ALL new equipment no matter the size or complexity, and maintain it as our core work.
The contractors (with few exceptions) get paid extra for fixing issues that should have never been an issue in the first place, all in the name of “warranty”.
It’s obvious AA employees are the better deal, we do the job more efficiently and do it correctly the first time because we care about our facilities.
I hope our management realizes this soon.
- Budgeted headcount 316
- Current headcount 315
- Out on LOA 9
- Actual headcount 306
As always feel free to contact me at any time.

I attended the Base Business Review (BBR) in DFW with Joe on Wednesday. We received a lot of good information. We also visited the MOC desk & sat in on a couple of calls.
I continue to work grievances daily & help members with their union benefits. I also continue to assist members with their FMLA paperwork whether here on the Base or at the Hospital. I attended a 32J this week.

If you haven’t heard by now, the TWU514 2024 Wall and Pocket Calendars are available. You can come by the hall with a limited stock in the grievance office. We only have a limited number, so when they are gone they are gone.
If you are looking for something different, you might want to check the 2024 Union Sportsmen’s Alliance Calendar. The calendar and website have a lot of information for outdoor enthusiasts. Log onto Union Sportsmen’s Alliance for more tips and events.
The Tulsa MLK Celebration and Parade had to be postponed due to weather, but I was able to celebrate Dr King’s legacy with the TWU International over the weekend. I will be providing a more in-depth report later this week of Dr. King’s impact on union labor and community.
Well we just started the new year and some of you had updates to your extra benefit coverage. We received the report of who may have missed the deadline and the list is quite long. We will come up with a plan to make contact with the missing members but in the meantime go back and see if you received the email that said go do something.

What does “Labor Union” mean to you? For me, it goes way deeper than just the definition below. It’s a brotherhood/sisterhood. Coworkers looking out for each other, helping each other, standing together. As we are preparing for Negotiations, we need to be thinking about these items, and many more that are not listed. We need to tighten up the reins and get strong. We can do this, but it takes everyone.
WE SHOULD NEVER TOLERATE OUR UNION MEMBERS TO BE MISTREATED BY OTHER UNION MEMBERS OR THE COMPANY! “An injustice to one, Is an Injustice to all”
labor union
noun
: an organization of workers formed for the purpose of advancing its members’ interests in respect to wages, benefits, and working conditions
