Vice President:
Attending the TWU International MLK Event in Miami, FL, was an honor. I, along with Tracy Hardin and Lisa Prince. We spent the weekend volunteering for community service and participated in the parade.

Article 28 – Safety and Health
“A. The company hereby agrees to maintain safe, sanitary and healthful conditions in all facilities and to maintain at all times a registered first aid station to take care of its employees in case of accident or illness.”
It has come to my attention that the bathrooms, ice machines, and water fountains are not being maintained clean and sanitary. If you notice any area that is not up to industry standards, please call it in ext. 2500.
Article 14 – Hours of Service
“K. Adverse Condition Day – When a decision is made by Federal, State or Local 28 Government officials that prohibits an individual employee from reporting to work 29 (i.e. Travel Ban, Curfew, or State of Emergency), the employee will notify the 30 Company as soon as practical, and the Company will approve the options listed 31 below. 32 33
1. An employee who is scheduled and reports to work on time will be entitled to full pay for the day, unless the employee voluntarily agrees to either take the rest of the day off without pay, or to use any other compensated time off (excluding block vacation and sick) to make up his wages for time missed when absent due to adverse conditions.
2. An employee arriving later than the beginning of the shift will be paid only for the actual hours worked and may use HAT (paid in a minimum of one (1) hour increments at straight time) to cover any time lost, or take time missed without pay at the employee’s option.
3. When an employee is absent due to adverse conditions, and is unable to report to work, he will not receive regular pay for that day. The employee, at his option, may use any other compensated time off (excluding block vacation and sick) to make up his wages for time missed when absent due to adverse conditions.
4. If any of the above applies, an employee will not be charged with an absence/tardiness under the attendance control policy.”
We have received many calls about T.E. days. Per Article 14 (above), it is doubtful the company will be calling any T.E. days. However, if you feel it is unsafe to drive to work, send the Admin along with your management team an email letting them know you are unable to be at work due to safety and ask for a DAT or a COMP day.
We will notify you as soon as we hear what the company is allowing, but we cannot approve you to stay home.

Add this to your new year things to do, the Union Sportsmen Alliance calendar is available to order. Don’t miss out on the hunting and fishing stories, tips, and of course the weekly drawings. You can get your very own at www.unionsportsmen.org
Did You Know:
In January 1937, two boiler room engineers for the Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit Corporation power plant in Brooklyn, NY, were fired for union activity. The Transport Workers Union (TWU) and their non – union co-workers locked themselves in the building and threatened to shut down the city’s subway lines. They quickly came to their senses and reinstated the workers.
They must have been writing grievances.

Don McCormick:
This current Executive Board is halfway through its 3 year term. When we started, we were at roughly 3300 Grievances. We have reduced it down to 1700 in 18 months which is a 48% reduction. We hope to be below 1000 by the end of the year. Any issues you have, make sure you get with a Union Steward and provide all the needed documentation and information to prove your issue. This will enable us to have a better understanding and chance of winning the argument.
HGR 5/6
- (1) 787 Line was inducted into hangar 6C a couple weeks ago. The ineptness of our vendors performing the work on these and the World Class Maintenance that we perform has the company moving the next 4 787’s into 6C through May. If we continue to thrive on the 787 product, we can continue to bring the planes back into the TULSA Base.
- 737 line has been absorbed by HGR 1/2/3 through dock planning through May to accommodate the 787.
- HR is working on removing the 55 disciplinary letters put into members files from Crew meetings. Let us know if these are still in your MyView. We were told these would be resolved and removed almost 3 weeks ago.
Welfare and Entertainment
- Tulsa Oilers Hockey – They are 18-16 with most events sold out. We have tickets at the Union Hall available from Katie M-F 7am-11am and 12pm to 4pm. They are also available at the Grievance office. Call x3213 to see if an officer is available. Games are this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as well as the same days next weekend.
- Family Day 2024. This will be June 1st at Mohawk Park and the Tulsa Zoo. More details to follow in the coming months.

Daron Morgan:
Thank you everyone that attended the January Membership meeting on Thursday January 25th. Our next membership meeting will be on Monday February 26th. As our Union is preparing for upcoming e negotiations, I would strongly recommend that all members make some meetings. At the Hall, you can get the facts, on the floor you may get rumors.
I continuing working new and old grievances, and preparing grievances for the February GRB
We have pocket calendars, wall calendars, Hockey tickets, and some M&R Contract Books available in the Grievance office
I’ve sat in on multiple 32J’s for various reasons
Pre-bankruptcy, we had a fully staffed TWU Facilities Maintenance Team. Post Bankruptcy, our TWU Facilities Team has shrunk, and the quality of our FACILITIES have gone downhill. The only thing that has increased, is the number of Contractors that we have on base. Never get complacent and think that this cannot happen to your workgroup. This is just the beginning. If you have facility maintenance issues in your area, contact Sam Neal. He is the Director of Facility Maintenance, Also, you can contact Ed Sangricco, now that Tulsa Facilities falls under him. I would like to thank all of our remaining facilities maintenance team, as they are doing the very best that they can, with what they have to work with.

TWU/IAM ASSOCIATION NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE BEGINS CONTRACT DISCUSSIONS IN PHOENIX
The members of your TWU/IAM Association Negotiating Committee met in Phoenix the week of January 15, 2024, to start the discussions on proposed changes to the current Joint Collective Bargaining Agreements.
The committee began discussing their positions on various Articles that need to be addressed in the upcoming negotiations with American Airlines. We discussed negotiation procedures and formatting that we will use as the Association, issues with the grievance process, and possible changes to the contract to expedite this process.
MLK Parade Event 2024
The 2024 TWU MLK Celebration was planned to be a celebration of Dr. King’s contribution to the
union movement and constant fight for all workers to have dignity and respect on the job. Dr. King was
the ultimate champion for the under-served and the rights of all men and women no matter their race,
sex, or religious belief. When it comes to unions, we along with the rest of society benefited from his
ultimate sacrifice, his life.
