President:
I attended the monthly safety meeting with the base’s Managing Directors (MDs) and several Directors in attendance. What I took away from that meeting is a great concern for tail dock safety. Years ago(1987), I witnessed my good friend Donald Marcotte fall 33 feet from a tail dock in 5f while working on a DC-10 as Aircraft Cleaners. Thank God he survived the fall and is working still to this day. Unfortunately, we have had guys fall to their death in my career. Please be aware of your work area. Please understand that if you pull a slider away from the aircraft and leave for a break or to retrieve a tool or part, another person may enter that workspace while you step away. Everyone should go home at the end of the day in the same health they started with.
Let’s all work together to call out any safety items. If your work area has a safety issue, please contact your crew chief and supervisor to get it corrected immediately.
I can be reached 24/7 at 918-636-6089.
Take care,
Vice President:
Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 9, 2025.

New time clocks are being installed at the Tulsa Maintenance Base. Everyone must be re-imaged into the new clocks. You will not be able to clock in or out if you do not get re-imaged. Please connect with the Admin Center, 539-283-2698, to ensure there are no pay discrepancies with this transition.
The May bid will be done electronically. You can go to the AA Tech Ops page bulletin board and find the Bidding Hub tab. The company will be sending email instructions on how to complete the process.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:
This week I attended the quarterly meeting in Dallas the company informed us they have been given an additional 60m in their GSE budget to buy new equipment with and to continue the company’s efforts to rid the system of rentals as much as possible I made sure Tulsa was included in this upcoming event and was assured we were.
They also stated their commitment to a GSE TCC system wide and are currently working out the details with the unions involvement.
On the facilities side, they have no new projects upcoming only closing out the current ones.
This quarterly meeting, in my opinion, has turned into a great opportunity to voice our concerns as a union, although this is not its intended purpose.
- Current headcount 319
- Headcount on LOA 8
- Budgeted headcount 316
As always, feel free to contact me at anytime.

Automated Re-Bids coming in May, 2025 (So we are being told)
- We had a preliminary meeting with Management about the process and it will be like the Current selection tool for Vacation Bidding.
- We met on March 4th. We discussed the future of Vacation bidding with a “Global Preference,” Shift Betterment, and how to handle transfers. Follow-up meetings are involved.
- The Automated Re-Bid should roll out in mid-April. Check your e-mail for details.
HGR 5/6
- Shift Betterment Will happen from Friday, March 7th, through Sunday. We have 39 new hires coming off probation on March 16th.
- Every dock is now doing E-tasks. Feel free to reach out to the representatives for training and help.
- If you’re interested in becoming a CC, contact existing CCs, Management, or myself about what the jobs will entail.
- CC Interviews – Conducted four Interviews for 1 AVI CC and 1 Gen CC candidate, which are now filled. Please help these 2 in their upcoming transition.
- 5S – We all need to take the “blinders” off and become aware of our surroundings. I have been a part of HGR 5/6 for over 20 years now and realized we all become complacent over time. An AMT called me over to vent a little about our overall complacency that has been happening over the last few years and here is what I found in 2 hours.
- 15 pieces of Equipment in four different locations with “Unserviceable” tags dating as far back as OCT 24.
- 8 pieces of equipment with Month/year tags are out of date and need to be re-inspected.
- Numerous Paper products, tooling, and parts being stored in the Dock footprints for Aircraft.
- Numerous parts removed from aircraft 2-6 weeks prior not being properly tagged or put in a location that stores can see due to the locations hidden on the Hangar floor to send to the proper shop.
- No less than 20 safety hazards in both hangars that everyone walks by or steps over/around every day.
I am stating this because WE (The TWU) will now be getting more involved with handling day-to-day tasks and operations in the hangar. We all need to be policing our work areas. If you want to be a part of the transition, please get a hold of me, Brian Drenthe, or a CC in the area.
RETIREMENT
Whether you’re 60 days from retirement or 30 years, we highly recommend you go to the TWU Website and review the Retirement Checklist.
- It is crucial that each member is informed on what benefits are out there and what they should be doing to have a successful plan for retirement.
- There are hyperlinks to different resources on there with approximate timelines of when to complete or review the steps…
EACH member is responsible for their own financial situation. This will help guide you in the right direction.

If so, do not hesitate to file an injury report, and do not let anyone intimidate you into not filing a report. Now, with that being said, please use your PPE.
