Vice President:
I want to thank everyone who signed up to be stewards and those who attended the Monday meeting.
If you are not receiving emails from me, please let me know. We have implemented a new grievance procedure. I have sent a copy of the form the grievant must complete before filing the grievance. It is also under the steward tab on TWU514.org. If you have any questions, contact me.
As of today, we have 1213 grievances. Over 700 of those are in the Known Crew Chief outage bucket, which will have to be resolved in arbitration.
I want to thank all the Union Representatives for their work in resolving the grievance.
If you missed yesterday’s Town Hall, Electronic Bids are coming for the May Rebid. Check your AA email in the upcoming weeks for more information. Starting April 14th, you will be able to set your preferences. Crew Chiefs, TCC, Sr. Planners, and Inspection will start the live bid on April 21st. All other workgroup’s live bids will start on April 23rd. You will be assigned a five (5) minute window to complete your preference, but please go in before that and set your preferences.
This month’s Membership meeting will be on Thursday, March 27th.
May’s Membership meeting will be a joint meeting on May 12th, a change from the Calendar.

Automated Re-Bids coming in May, 2025 (So we are being told)
- We had a preliminary meeting with Management about the process and it will be like the Current selection tool for Vacation Bidding.
- We met on March 4th. We discussed the future of Vacation bidding with a “Global Preference,” Shift Betterment, and how to handle transfers. Follow-up meetings are involved.
- The Automated Re-Bid should roll out in mid-April. Check your e-mail for details.
I attended all 3 Town Hall meetings Thursday. It was good to see everyone that attended and asked pertinent questions to the management there.
HGR 5/6
- Shift Betterment – There were 41 positions of members being moved due to coming off of probation March 16th. These positions were never up for Rebid to the current members in 257 and 263.
- Every dock is now doing E-tasks. Feel free to reach out to the representatives for training and help.
- If you’re interested in becoming a CC, reach out to existing CC’s, Management, or myself about what the jobs will entail.
- Attended 4 CC/Management meetings for 263 on issues that are around the work place. Tooling, stands, ladders, parts not available, parts being delivered to different locations, E-Task items,etc.. Management is working on resolving the issues now.
- 5S – We all need to take the “blinders” off and become aware of our surroundings. I have been a part of HGR 5/6 for over 20 years and we all become complacent over time. Here is what I found this week when I opened my eyes because an AMT called me over to vent a little about our overall complacency that has been happening over the last few years. Here is what I found in 2 hours.
- 15 pieces of Equipment in four different locations with “Unserviceable” tags dating as far back as OCT 24.
- 8 pieces of equipment with Month/year tags out of date and needing to be reinspected.
- Numerous Paper products, tooling, and parts being stored in the Dock footprints for Aircraft.
- Numerous parts removed from aircraft 2-6 weeks prior not being properly tagged or put in a location that stores cant see due to the location to send to the proper shop.
- No less than 20 safety hazards in both hangars that everyone walks by or steps over/around every day.
I am stating this because WE (The TWU) will now be getting more involved with handling day to day tasks and operations in the hangar. We all need to be policing our work areas. If you want to be a part of the transition, please get a hold of myself, Brian Drenthe, or a CC in the area.
RETIREMENT
Whether you’re 60 days from retirement or 30 years. We highly recommend you go to the TWU Website and review the Retirement Checklist.
- It is crucial that each member is informed on what benefits are out there and what they should be doing to have a successful plan for retirement.
- There are hyperlinks to different resources on there with approximate timelines of when to complete or review the steps…
EACH member is responsible for their own financial situation. This will help guide you in the right direction.
