Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

Happy Friday all

This month, we’ve had several issues that we are dealing with. Here are some of the highlights;

LOM 3 in our contract states the company will notify the association of any new camera installations, the company has in the past notified me, however in the past year or so the company has stopped notifying me, when I questioned my FMG management they say all the company is obligated to do was notify someone local in the association, I’ve asked who was notified.

This is an ongoing process, and I will keep you updated.

I’ve been complaining about our FMG processes since I’ve began as chairman and how cumbersome they are and how little they are known, even as chairman of the group I was unaware of who to call and how my call was handled or prioritized.

What’s a FWR ? what’s a trouble call ? Who do I call if the restroom is not cleaned ? Is the number I call the same on all ? How do we track the call ? 3 years into this term I still don’t have all of these answers.

If you have a trouble call of any kind please call 539-283-2500

We currently have approximately 10 mechanic openings in Facilities the company is currently not hiring anyone until after the upcoming shift bid, we will keep track of these openings so not to lose them.

As always, feel free to call me anytime.

Don McCormick:

Most of the meetings with Management are between 9 AM and 3 PM.  I am usually on base until 6:30 PM and have no problem helping resolve issues as needed.  You can contact me or any officer with any questions or concerns.  918-378-5823.

I have been averaging over 55 hours a week addressing the membership’s concerns.

YTD- 464 Resolved – This is a rolling number of the last 12 months

  • October –        Resolved 27 with 12 paid and 15 W/D
  • November –    Resolved 22 with 6 paid and 16 W/D
  • December –    Resolved 14 with 2 paid and 12 W/D
  • January –        Resolved 22 with 10 paid and 12 W/D
  • February –      Resolved 44 with 41 paid and 3 W/D
  • March –          Resolved 23 with 20 paid and 3 W/D

Grievances – 235 open for multiple areas.

Resolved 23 with 20 paid and 3 W/D

13 Grievances are going to a PRE-GRB meeting with Labor and Union on 3- 28- 25.

Staff Admin has had a ton of issues the past few weeks.  We have had over 25 grievances filed in Hangars 5 and 6 due to their mismanagement in not being able to successfully contact members on shift or code training qualifications to Workbrain.  Make sure to check your OT reports.

Hangars 5 and 6

  • Public Service Announcement:
    • Thief in Hangar 5. Lock up your tools, Apple watches, etc. Challenge anyone without a visible badge.
  • Attended 6 CC/Management meetings for 257/263 on issues that are around the workplace. Tooling, stands, ladders, parts not available, parts being delivered to different locations, E-Task items, etc… We are working on resolving the issues now with management, including CI and safety events.
  • Attended 2 32Js on Payroll discrepancy and OT.

Article 18 Overtime – Voluntary versus Mandatory

  • Overtime is a voluntary action to sign up for and contractually, the company can’t force you to work it. “If you didn’t sign up”
  • Once the automated system selects you or you answer the phone/positive contact and agree to work, it is no longer voluntary but becomes “Mandatory.”
  • It becomes mandatory that you show up for your contractual 8 hours and remain for the entire shift.
  • If you fail to show up, arrive late, or leave early, you are screwing your fellow crew members that you’re working with, and you screwed a fellow crew member monetarily by taking a shift they would have worked.  This $300 to $1200 issue will start to bring you unwanted attention from fellow crew members and the Company.
  • You won’t receive an attendance point for this action but instead will receive a disciplinary level for failure to report/work 8 hours of a shift you agreed to work.

Think before you put yourself into a bad situation. The Union, in most cases, won’t be able to help you with disciplinary action.
