Local 514’s Digest for the week of July 5, 2024

President:

I hope everyone had a safe Independence day. It is so sad to hear of drowning accidents that take life’s. Sometimes you do not get a second chance to practice safety. Please look out for those who may need help.

I’ve taken a few calls regarding DAT requests leading up to the holiday. If the request process is not working in your area please get with a Union Rep. in your area and they will work with an Executive Board officer assigned to your area to review the process.

Tracy Hardin:

Even though this has been a short week it has still been a very busy week. If you are a new employee here are a few things to remember:

  • 60 days to sign up for medical coverage.
  • Provide the TWU and AA with you updated contact information (AKA: phone, address, emergency).
  • Give your family our contact information.

I have had some grievances that could be worked out before they became a grievance. You can talk to your crew chief and supervisor to correct the problem if there is one.The sooner it is addressed, the sooner it is resolved.

Be safe and Drink Lots of Water if you are working in the heat, be it at the base or at home!

Daron Morgan:

  • Continue working the Grievance Office Daily
  • Continue working new and old grievances

Joe and I met with the CRO Leadership on Tuesday.  Currently, our largest group of grievances for that organization are machine quals.  After you meet all of the qualifications in Article 8 to be a machinist, they went multiple steps farther and put a qualification on almost all of the machines in that group, as well as qualifications on different job task.  There is a presidential grievance on qualifications, and we will continue to file grievances on quals until this issue is resolved.

The Tulsa Drillers have home games on July 5th and 6th.  Tickets are available at the Union Hall

Saturday Jul 13, 2024 The Tulsa Oilers football team will be playing at home.  We have tickets available at the Hall and in the Grievance for that event

The next Union Rep Meetings will be held on Monday Jul 8, 2024.  The July Union Membership meeting will be held on Thursday Jul 24, 2024.

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy 4th of July.   Our next Union Negotiated Holiday will be on Monday Sep 2, 2024 for Labor Day.
