Local 514’s Digest for the week of July 12, 2024

President:

This week the TWU/IAM Neg Committee continued our efforts via Zoom meeting to review all contract language and discuss areas that need improvement. I also attended a 5 hour long meeting with Jay Potter and company reps to audit all base aircraft group headcount and discuss adjustments that needed to be made to align with the scope language in the M&R book.

Next week I travel to Chicago to meet all week with the Negotiation team.

I can be reached 24/7 at 918-636-6089

Dale Danker

Vice President:

We have 1348 open grievances. As I have stated in the past, the majority of these are Crew Chief known outages.

They will remain open until we get this case to arbitration.

The Working Women’s committee has a couple of drives going on right now. We have the back to school supply drive and the Walk to End Alz.

If you would like to contribute to the school supply drive, you can drop off items, such as pens, pencils, paper, scissors, glue, crayons, etc. at the Union Hall or at 4D with Betty Palmer.

To join our walk team or donate you can scan the QR code below. We appreciate anything you can do.

Field trips

I have recently received complaints about employees’ attitudes on field trips. Please be respectful to others.

Take proper tools. Regional airlines will not take any line bag over 100 lbs, so make sure you are qualified for the trip. So that the company doesn’t send you home early.

Safety

  • Injuries are up. Please wear PPE when required.
  • When lifting heavy items, Please use proper lifting techniques and, if necessary, get help.
  • We are still in need of ERTs for the off shifts and weekends; if interested, please get in touch with Brent.anderson@aa.com.
  • Hangars 5/6 is looking for volunteers for the safety team; please get in touch with brian.drenthe@.com

Security Guards

  • I have received complaints stating that the security Guards are walking around using their cell phones to video or take pictures. Please do not confront any security Guards. If there is an issue, please call a board member.

Future Leaders Organizing Committee

  • The FLOC Committee would like to welcome the new workers to AA and invite you to our next committee meeting; if you are interested, please contact me.
  • The FLOC has joined the working women’s committee to gather BACK TO SCHOOL supplies. If you have anything you would like to donate, please drop it by the union hall or the grievance office.

Transfer request

  • If you have placed your name on a transfer list, please review and make sure you are current on your choice.  48 hours after the bid closes, the company will check to see if you qualify, and if so, you go.
