Local 514’s Digest for the week of Aug 4, 2023

President:

Arbitration decisions on “Holiday Pay” and “Sick Points” have been made. Please take some time and read the decisions HERE.

We have been preparing for negotiations and I need your input. We have made it so that you can leave us your ideas on our website HERE. Give it some thought and let us know what your ideas are for this next round of negotiations. Be looking for a postcard from us in your mailbox sometime at the end of this month or beginning of September. This is to help and get the word out that we need your input.

I’m available 24/7 at 918-636-6089.

Dale Danker

Vice President:

We continue to work on grievances. If you have any questions please contact one of us.

I’ve been getting calls about the grievance office. The officers are available, if you need someone and no one is in the office their contact information is posted on the door. Please call an E-Board officer if needed. Also, know the Union stewards in your bid area, they are there for you.

It’s been extremely hot. Stay hydrated!!

Chairman of Material Logistics Specialist:

Hot topics:

    • We currently have 100 grievances to settle.
    • Headcount on Base is 491 with 20 on LOA.
    • Crew Chiefs don’t forget to turn in your bid.
    • MLS will bid next week. Hangars and shops in the Warehouse won’t be dodgeball. You will pick your area.
    • TEO will bid like normal. The splitting off the Load Center will not happen at this time. Too many questions couldn’t get answered.
    • A new supervisor is being hired for the warehouse. A supervisor shuffle might be coming.
    • Warehouse break room and bathroom are being remodeled. This will take a couple of months.  Management will be getting a portable bathroom set up outside the warehouse.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

Heat

Yes, it’s frikkin hot and I know you don’t need me to tell you this, rest assured your Facilities Maintenance group is working diligently to maintain your equipment during the current heat wave.

You know what is hotter than Oklahoma in August?….”ARC flash” evidently, it’s hotter than the surface of the sun, I have no clue how they got a volunteer for that job?

Arc Flash is possible every time you close a disconnect or even possible when you plug something in, it becomes more dangerous the more electricity or the more you have to burn which is why if you have a portable AC, or portable power unit, or any portable item, you should call an electrician to do this for you, they have the tools, protective gear and the knowledge to secure power if something goes awry.

Please feel free to call me.

Arbitration Decisions for Points and Holidays

We received both Arbitration decisions on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.  The Board had a conference call with the International to review the decisions.  Local 514 has put out the letter from the Association and you can also view the actual decision on our website, twu514.org.  We know there are many questions regarding individual circumstances, we will be working diligently to resolve these issues for everyone.

Contract Negotiations

Local 514 is asking for your ideas regarding the upcoming negotiations. You can visit Local 514 website and submit your ideas.

Have a great day,
