Local 514’s Digest for the week of Sep 29, 2023

President:

This week I attended an IEC meeting in Fort Lauderdale.  We listen to all division staff reports and ask questions and approve them.  We approve the financial report as well.

Next week Jay Potter and I travel to Dallas to meet with the IAM and continue working on TWU contract negotiation prep.

Our Auditors have completed their audit of 514’s books and have prepared our LM-2 report.  D’Ann and I have signed and submitted the report to the OLMS.  I want to say thank you to D’Ann and the members that attend the local meetings and ask questions about your funds.  It’s our goal as officers to be diligent with your Dues.

Form LM-2 is filed with the Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS) by unions in the United States that details how a union spent funds in the past year. It is the most detailed report labor organizations are required to file.

M&R rep Rollie Reaves had a conference call with AA HR Jim Weel and an IAM rep about the attendance policy.  We were initially told that AA would not write a new policy after the arbitration decision but now we are told that the company will put out a newly written policy.  Please look for that either on company websites or in your email as early as this Sunday.

I want to say thank you to Troy Ott for his service to Local 514. Troy filled in for David Cooper’s vacated position on the E-board.  The board had made the decision to go to an open election to let the membership determine who should fill the vacancy.  Daron Morgan appealed that decision and the International appeals committee determined that he would be placed into that vacancy.  The Chairman of the appeals committee stated that our 514 by-laws are conflicting and need fixed.  We are currently working to bring them up to current standards of locals that have experienced these same issues in the past.

This past Eboard meeting I swore Daron in as an officer and welcomed him aboard.  I believe Marla has assigned him to work the CAM building and offsites where Cooper was assigned.  If you see him please congratulate him and welcome him aboard.

As always i can be reached 24/7 at 918-636-6089
