Vice President:
Membership Meetings Monday, October 30, 2023
- 7:15 a.m.
- 11:45 p.m.
- 3:45 p.m.
November 1, 2023 is the deadline for changing your DAT option. We suggest you verify your option is correct.
November 3, 2023 is the last day for the Annual Benefits Enrollment.
Benefit Counselors are available to assist with TWU added benefits in Hangars 3&4 HOC – until November 2, 2023.
Many of the officers have been out Thursday and Friday interviewing for cleaner positions. Please contact your Union Steward in your area with any issues.
There are still a lot of questions about the Company Attendance Policy. The arbitrator in the award states: “The Company did not violate the JCBA’s to the extent that the Guidelines provided for: (a) assessing a point for a legitimate illness; (b) assessing a point for failing to call out sick with appropriate notice; or (c) assessing points for no call/no show.”
The points are a way for the company to monitor occurrences. When you are put on a step, that is now disciplinary. If you are put on any step, please get with a steward and file a grievance, provide the documentation that proves the “bonafide illness” and the officer in your area will work with the LTA’s to try to get this resolved.
If you have a medical issue that requires you to be off work on a regular basis I would suggest you look into FMLA.
If you are sick, that is what sick time is for. Do not be afraid to use your sick time.
If you have questions please feel free to call myself or an Executive Board Officer.
Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!
Recording Secretary:
UPDATE: State’s Average Weekly Wage and Maximum Benefit Amounts for Work-Related Injuries, Illnesses and Deaths for CY 2024
Title 85A sets the maximum compensation benefit rates based on a percentage of the state’s average weekly wage reported to the Commission by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.
Due to an INCREASE in the state average weekly wage, the maximum compensation benefit rate for injury, illness or death will change as follows:
- For temporary total disability, the maximum rate is $1,038.31 per week for injuries and illnesses arising during the period beginning January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2024. 85A O.S. § 45(A).
- For Permanent Total Disability (PTD) and Death, the maximum rate is $1,038.31 per week for work-related injury, illness or death occurring during the period beginning January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2024. 85A O.S. § 45(D) (regarding PTD), and 85A O.S. § 47 (regarding death benefits).
- For Permanent Partial Disability (PPD), the maximum compensation benefit rate remains unchanged at $350 per week for work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on May 28, 2019 through June 30, 2021. For injuries occurring on or after July 1, 2021, the weekly rate will increase to $360 per week. See 85A O.S. § 45(C).
Look for revised benefit charts on the Commission’s website https://www.ok.gov/wcc/Legal/Benefit_Charts/index.html or contact the Workers’ Compensation Commission’s Counselor/Ombudsman Program for more information at 855-291-3612 (in-state toll free) • 405-522-5308 (OKC) • Counselors@wcc.ok.gov.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:
Hopefully you were able to attend one of Thursday’s town hall meetings, if you did, you heard management announce the expansion of AAero and the addition of 9 more people in the FMG (facilities maintenance group) this is approximately 7% of the total number of headcount being hired for this expansion.
While this IS great news for our organization it shows to me that AA management does not recognize the true value of FMG and the importance of having enough highly skilled labor on duty during production.
In case you missed it, here are the numbers of people being added in the trades.
- Millwright 3
- Electronics Techs 3
- Plumbers 2
That’s a total of 8 in the trades with an additional supervisor
This brings our budgeted headcount up to 316
I would assume it was effective immediately.
Please feel free to contact me anytime.
