Local 514’s Digest for the week of November 15th, 2024

President:

This week, the Eboard officers and I met with Ed Sangricco and all the Tulsa base management team leaders to discuss the current events happening around the base. Ed and I have decided to start meeting again with this larger group to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to address any concerns they may have in their area.

Ed will hold town hall meetings next Thursday, the same day of the union membership meetings. My advice would be to attend the town hall meeting on your shift and listen to what he has to say about what will be happening around the base.

I sat down with a few officers this week to make an update video.

The Retirement committee and I have been doing a deep dive on what you should be thinking about during your career as well as a 10-year out, 5 year out and a right now retirement guide. We currently have someone you can visit with to discuss your frozen pension plan options but that will change December 31, 2024. The committee and I will present a proposal to the board soon and if approved we will roll that out in membership meetings and all other available forms of communication.

We have many younger members recently hired and starting along their career paths in aviation. Please share your knowledge and help them when it’s appropriate.

As always I can be reached 24/7 at 918-636-6089. If you would like to visit in your area and on your shift just let me know and we can figure out a time and place to make that happen.

 Take care

Dale Danker

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

Here is what’s happening in the facilities maintenance group currently.

I have been meeting with our new senior manager Richard Lyon and expressing our wishes to grow our organization, he seems receptive and often agrees with the method to do so, we have also been meeting regularly with the other managers going over and resolving grievances.

I’m currently expressing our need for a tech crew chief in GSE automotive, more to come on this.

Currently with the construction going on that is being led by corporate real estate the company is ignoring the fact that we are the experts in our field and they tend to isolate FMG from any plans or problems that arise, I hope with a new senior manager we can address these issues more efficiently.

If you notice one of your crew members gone for a lengthy period and they have not been replaced please contact me so that I can try to find out if they have been gone longer than 90 days.

As always feel free to contact me.

 Tracy Hardin:

Now that open enrollment has ended, there are still a few things to wrap up.

  • Between now and the end of the year, update your salary if you have union-sponsored insurance.
  • Check to make sure you are paying the right premiums.
  • Make sure you have submitted any required paperwork to confirm coverage (Birth Certificates or EOI)
  • Check to see if you are duplicating coverage.
  • This may be a good time to check your 401K contributions.

The on-base clinic, Premise Health, is looking for You! If you need to get a Flu shot or schedule a COVID vaccine, they can help you out. Just call 918-292-3253 and ask them to Hook You Up!!!!

If you haven’t noticed, some angels are hanging on trees, asking for your help. If you can, as a crew or individual bring a smile to a child and adopt an angel from the Angel Tree. That child and the Salvation Army would genuinely appreciate it.

Management Shuffle –  Bryan Beene and Mark Winters have been moved to HGR 5/6. Mike Stearns and Kevin Underwood have been moved over to HGR 1/2/3

Bryan Beene and Mike Stearns are integral to the Grievance process, and we are working to establish roles, meeting times, and guidelines to move forward with the grievance procedures.

HGR 5/6

  • 9FF  is going forward with the new Bid Unit of 263 being mainly involved in 777/787 Heavy, Special Visit and Drop-Ins.  Bid Unit 257 will be mainly involved in the 737 Heavy Checks on 5C/5D
  • No current member of these Bid units will be forced to move.  All General and Avionics openings will be filled with Future New Hires. All new General CC and AVI/CC bids for 257 (until Jan 13th) will be used to backfill any openings in Both Bid Units.  The company will establish Bid Unit 263 on Future bids in Jan. 2025.

  • Safety should be everyone’s top priority.  The 777-shoring falling and injuring 3 members, as well as the Landing Gear change tooling breaking and almost striking several members, is a wake-up call.  Please don’t be Complacent to Safety.
  • The company split the Bid unit and posted the members moving to 263. We are still working with them on a few items to clarify.
  • Bryan Beene (Sr. Manager) and Mark Winters (Manager) will be working in the Bid unit and helping transition the 737 lines to best practices similar to HGR 1/2/3
