Local 514’s Digest for the week of December 20th, 2024

President:

Today American Airlines COO David Seymour will be at the Tulsa base with other senior leaders to get a demonstration of the new Electronic task card system. I will be there as well to hear it explained and to visit with him as time permits. As Jay Potter mentions in his digest post I never pass up the opportunity to promote all of you and to always try to persuade him to give Tulsa a chance to do more work.

2024 was a very positive year for the Tulsa base employees. Several folks got to realize the opportunity to retire and ride off into the sunset as we welcomed over 500 new employees. We also overwhelmingly voted for an economic extension to all 4 contracts represented by Local 514.

2025 looks to be an amazing year as well including additional work being added with a 787, 737 and increased volumes in some of the back shops. I’m hopeful with TWU International Rep Rollie Reaves involvement we will be able to resolve some issues with the M&R and MLS contracts that have existed since March 2020.

Jan 6 you get your pay raise, please check the next paycheck after that date and make sure it is correct.

As always I’m available 24/7 at 918-636-6089.

Enjoy the Holidays

Merry Christmas

Dale Danker

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

Hello all;

  It has been a great year in facilities, It’s been said you eat an elephant one bite at a time, and we are doing just that; we’ve added 10 heads to our overall headcount this year, this is the first time in more than twelve years this has happened, we have also identified the specific reasons we are continually losing headcount and have been addressing these reasons as well.

  We are under the same contract for another two years, that’s not particularly a good thing for facilities, however we are earning better wages to do so, and that IS a good thing.

  We (your union) have plans of continuing to earn the trust of you and management to build strong relations in the upcoming year.

I wish all of you a merry Christmas and a happy and safe new year.

Jay Potter:

First, let me thank everyone for the honor to serve this membership.  This year has been a good year for the Tulsa Base. The company added 365 jobs in Tulsa, some to replace the folks leaving and most to prepare for the two (2) additional check aircraft coming to the Tulsa Base. I hope everyone realizes how often your Local leadership promotes your professionalism as the very best in the industry; we continually do what we can to bring more work in-house overall and of course to the Tulsa Base.

In addition, it was an honor to represent everyone as part of the negotiating team. We were able to secure the two (2) year extension to our CBA, this will provide substantial pay increases for everyone without giving up anything in the agreement.  In fact, we were able to achieve additional benefits for the membership with the Clarification and Settlement Letter that was signed. These benefits include going to  one hundred and forty (140) calendar day Probationary and Trial periods, making members eligible for Field Trips while having signed up for a swap, being able to utilize Basic Classification Seniority when competing for any basic classification job, and agreeing to utilize mediation as a way to advance the grievance process.  I believe this is unprecedented in the thirty-six (36) years I’ve been here. I think most agree, with over ninety-three percent (93%) of M&R and over eighty-nine percent (89%) of MLS voting for the extension.

I wish everyone a family filled Holiday Season, a  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  God bless.
