Local 514’s Digest for the week of March 3, 2023

President:

All,

I’m working with Rollie Reaves to push for an arbitration date for the Presidential grievance that I call “dodgeball”. The IAM has made it clear that they would also like to see that case move forward. If it’s determined that the case would have a system wide impact it’s likely the Association Attorney’s would put the case on with myself and others being used as witnesses. Either way, no TWU M&R President believes the Crew Chiefs should pick crews but rather the crew has the right to pick a crew chief by location in their respective bid area.

We received news yesterday that the briefs have been submitted for the sick points case. We are now waiting on the arbitrator’s decision.

I’m available 24/7 @ 918-636-6089

Dale Danker

Vice President:

Dale, Jay, Jim and I attended the GRB this week. Dale spoke on 3 Presidential grievances, Jim presented facility scope issues. I brought vacation and light duty grievances. We do not have the outcome but I will report back when we get it.

The grievance team went for Arbitration training presented by current arbitrators. It was very educational not only the subjects but the way the arbitrators handled situations we deal with in our work environment.

Please be aware of postings around the base that are not Official Union posts. There have been messages put out that are inaccurate or very vague.

If you see something that you think may be questionable please alert an officer in your area.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

Guys and Gals

I have so much to tell you all.

So let’s get started.

Facilities maintenance is currently working on the bathroom remodels, and it seems it’s going well, thank you to all involved.

The carpenter shop and base utilities worked on a wood wheel well stand for dock 6A mechanics, why wood and why the carpenter shop you ask ? Well I’m glad you asked that, because I was thinking the same thing, evidently this is a prototype stand made of wood and if it works well we will be making it out of metal. Again thank you all involved in making this happen.

The GBR went well for facilities, I think, I presented 3 grievances that represent several grievances, and while I had the ears of a captive audience I suggested that the Tulsa Facilities maintenance team should be setting the standard in the AA system, they all seemed very receptive, but again they were captive

Any questions ?  Feel free to call me

Jim Holt (918)378-2079

Jay Potter:

I attended the GRB on Tuesday with Dale, Marla, and Jimmy Holt.

As part of the Grievance Committee, I had the opportunity to attend arbitration training this week as well. The training was extremely educational.  Five (5) professional arbitrators were giving instruction and opinions on several recent arbitration cases. They gave several different perspectives on every case.

My next Base Outsourcing meeting is scheduled for March 8th in Dallas.

Today, March 03, 2023, we have 27 aircraft at vendors and 24 aircraft at our in-house bases.

Oklahoma Insurance Department clarifies ‘misinformation’ spread about prescription program

The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) says inaccurate and misleading information has been given to some consumers after several large employers sent letters to their employees regarding changes to their CVS/Caremark prescription program.

Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready says one of the most troubling inaccuracies is the claim that the law in Oklahoma no longer allows for 90-day prescriptions.

The law (HB 2632, creating the Patient’s Right to Pharmacy Choice Act) in Oklahoma does allow for the filling of 90-day supply prescriptions. However, it is against the law to incentivize patients to fill prescriptions through mail order rather than their pharmacy of choice.

“It is concerning that these misrepresentations are being spread to employees in Oklahoma,” said Mulready. “The facts are that as part of a legal settlement with CVS/Caremark, letters were supposed to be sent out to consumers explaining their options for prescriptions and instead of clarifying, the letters that were sent have only spread more misinformation to the citizens of this great state.”

CVS/Caremark issued the following statement on the changes:

“We are complying with the state’s requirements implementing the Patient’s Right to Pharmacy Choice Act, which requires us to remove the cost-effective Maintenance Choice offering for our employer clients. This program previously allowed Oklahomans access to lower cost 90-day refills at CVS Pharmacy locations.”

CVS Caremark

OID also says although some letters claimed HB 2632 would begin to be enforced Feb. 23, 2023, it has been enforcing this law since September 1, 2020.

“OID is committed to ensuring the people of Oklahoma have access to accurate information regarding their healthcare needs,” said Mulready. “We urge Oklahoma employers to verify the accuracy of their communications before sending them to their employees.”

OID has issued $3.5 million in fines to pharmacy benefit managers and overseen $700,000 in reimbursements to local pharmacies since enforcement of the law began.
