Company Point Policy

Continue to file on each sick point you may receive. If multiple points are on the same day you can do one Grievance, in the body of the Grievance show how many points on that one day. Click on MyView from your QuickLink tab to check your points.

Even with John Samuleson (TWU INTL President) filing a TWU INTL Grievance against AA across our system, you need to file a grievance to make sure it is in place once we do go to arbitration.

The grievance clearly defines our ask of the company. We mentioned that some members are now getting work emails that tell you, you have had a “Discussion” on points, yet a discussion has not ever happened. These emails are going out on Level 1 and Level 2 discussions also. If you scroll to the bottom, nothing has been signed. They are not telling you to go to LTA (lost time and attendance) to talk to anyone. File a separate Grievance on these emails if you get one. It’s a good idea to check your work email daily.

Here is one example how to have your Steward should write the Grievance for the points/attendance letters:

“I became aware when I checked MyView (or received an email) from the Time and Attendance (T&A) department on a Coaching Discussion – Attendance: this has to do with the new “point system” on using my Contractual sick time benefit in ART 24. The letter goes directly against ART32(J) of our union negotiated contract. I was not afforded any Union Representation and no type of personal discussion (regular discussion or level 1 or level 2) with a LTA describing any type of assistance program that would assist me to strive for better attendance happened.

The AA point system put in place after our signed and ratified contract goes directly against TWU-ART 24 Sick Time. The Company has made using my negotiated sick benefits punitive. I do not abuse my negotiated sick benefits. This type of letter is a violation of the Association/AA CBA. ART. 24/ART. 32(J). I grieve for all sick points to be removed from my personal record and any related letters removed.”

**(at the beginning of the Grievance a Steward will be asked to put in ONE article. They will choose ART 24. ART 32J is added in the body of the Grievance)

FMLA

If you have an issue on any health/family concerns, please take the time to look into FMLA as needed. How do you do that? Take a look here; Go through JetNet on the Team Member Services tab, click on Leaves & Returns. It opens a page, at the top part of this page you will click on Ground and LSS. You will ‘request new case‘. Start filling out a ‘new leave request’ here. There are six different pages you will answer online. After you fill out the pages, click the Submit tab. WIthin one to five days you should receive  an email of the paperwork, you will print and take it to your doctor to complete. If you have questions on this contact LTA; Martha Abbott (x1853) and Angie Anderson (x1996).

Social Media and You

Friendly reminder to be careful what you post on social media and send in company emails. Keep an eye on your time daily and make sure you are coded correctly.

In Solidarity,
Linda Dill

CALL TO ACTION!

TWU Members & Allies,

The bipartisan Safe Aircraft Maintenance Standards Act  raises safety standards for U.S.-flagged aircraft maintained abroad to bring them in line with domestically maintained aircraft. This will not only better ensure the safety and security of frontline aviation workers and the flying public, but also deter offshoring of aircraft maintenance.

The legislation would address five regulatory gaps that allow a lower safety standard for aircraft maintenance and incentivize airlines to offshore this work:

    • Drug and alcohol testing for safety sensitive personnel
    • Background checks for workers at maintenance facilities
    • Security threat assessments for these facilities
    • Unannounced inspections for maintenance operations
    • Minimum qualifications for aircraft mechanics

Do you support returning offshored jobs to the U.S.? Then write a letter to your Congressmember, asking them to support the Safe Aircraft Maintenance Standards Act!
