Local 514’s Digest for the week of Jun 23, 2023

President:

Please use the email provided (Negotiations@twumail.org) to give input on what you would like to see changed in the contract you work under.  Conversations at my level and above are being had on getting together this Fall to start working on contract language for the next round of negotiations.  Your input is needed on what you would like to see changed.

VP Johnson continues to hold meetings with the officers to resolve the backlog of grievances. It is greatly appreciated. The work they are putting in on grievances is what I  consider our number one priority.

I’m available 24/7 at 918-636-6089

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

As you well know We had several storms roll through Northeast Oklahoma last Saturday Evening, some of the worst recorded, and it’s no accident that the Tulsa base stayed on line in every aspect of incoming power, electric, gas, water and even GSE, however fortunate we were, this, is just one of the values of having a Facilities maintenance crew on site 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I am currently working diligently with other E board officers and members of management to clean up our grievances, and expedite any new grievances, if you get a grievance that was paid and or closed and you weren’t called by me explaining why it was, please do not hesitate to call and question me.

As always feel free to contact me.

Jay Potter:

Good afternoon, today Jun 23, 2023, we have 23 aircraft at our In-house Base Maintenance Stations and 22 aircraft at the HMP vendors.  I will be reporting out on Scope at the upcoming membership meeting, Thursday, June 29, 2023, 715am, 1145am, and 345pm.

Overtime

I would like to talk about an OT eligibility issue that came up last week.  A member who has a regularly scheduled shift of afternoons with Saturday/Sunday off took a scheduled week of vacation (5 days) and then put in for OT for the Saturday following his vacation.  He put in for day shift and second shift OT on Saturday.  He was not awarded and not eligible for the day shift OT because he was technically still on VC until the start of his regularly scheduled shift (second shift) on Saturday. He was eligible for the Saturday second shift OT.

Article 18 – Overtime, Y. Eligibility,

    1. “Employees on a DAT, comp time, or leaves of absence, regardless of compensation for time off work, are not eligible to work overtime.”
    2. “Employees on weekly vacation are only eligible for overtime on their regularly scheduled days off.”

In summary, Article 18, Y. 4 & 5 can be confusing, it was to me. I filed a grievance on behalf of the member and have since withdrawn.   I discovered this issue has previously been resolved at the Association level with the company and the above understanding is the correct one.

Have a great day,

Jay
