BENEFITS
Open enrollment for the 2027 benefits year officially began Monday, October 26, and remains open through November 13.
TWU-sponsored benefits counselors are available on base in the office next door to the Grievance Office. Counselors will also be available at the offsite locations.
Beginning Monday, November 2, a counselor will be available at the Local 514 Union Hall by appointment only. Call 918-437-4300 to schedule your appointment.
Take this opportunity to review your coverage, ask questions, and complete your enrollment before the deadline. Don’t miss out on this valuable service brought to you by Local 514!
UPCOMING UNION-NEGOTIATED HOLIDAYS
Our next union-negotiated holiday is Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2026. Banking options for Veterans Day are currently open.
November also includes two additional negotiated holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, and the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 27.
SAFETY CORNER — RESPIRATOR QUALIFICATIONS
A recent field trip requiring fuel tank entry qualifications exposed discrepancies in the crew list. Multiple team members were listed as qualified even though they had not completed all requirements.
GPM 13.02 covers fuel tank entry. Qualification requires completion of the online course, classroom training, respirator medical evaluation, and respirator fit test. Some members had completed the training and medical evaluation but never received notification to complete their fit test.
Do not rely solely on the crew list to confirm your qualification. Before performing work requiring a respirator, verify that all required steps are complete. If anything is missing or unclear, notify your supervisor and contact your union representative before proceeding.
I am working to address problems with the current training, notification, and qualification tracking processes. Members need a clear path to complete their requirements and records that accurately reflect their qualifications. Your safety depends on more than a check mark on a crew list.
WELFARE & ENTERTAINMENT
Mark your calendars for the TWU Local 514 80th Anniversary Adult Party on Saturday, November 21, from 6 p.m. to midnight at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. Join your fellow members for an evening of fun and fellowship!
The next Tulsa Oilers hockey game is Friday, October 30. Tickets are available at the Grievance Office and the Local 514 Union Hall.
FAITH, FELLOWSHIP & SOLIDARITY
As we enter the holiday season, let us remember God’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves. That love calls us to action—to check on a brother who has grown quiet, encourage a sister carrying a heavy burden, and help a family facing difficult times. For some, the holidays bring celebration; for others, they bring grief, loneliness, or worry. May we meet each other with grace and compassion.
Our union’s strength is measured not only by the contract we defend, but by how faithfully we stand beside one another. We can disagree and still show respect. We can face challenges and still choose kindness. Every member deserves to know they matter and that someone will stand with them.
This holiday season, let us put our faith into action, love our brothers and sisters, and make sure no member feels forgotten. May God bless you, your families, and our Local 514 union family.
In solidarity,
Daron
