Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:
Woo Hoo!
Welcome to Halloween weekend; hopefully your plans incorporate family, friends, and safety.
Look at this: our CRO facilities group replaced a high-speed door in the cam building. This is a big deal because our group did it for “several” thousand dollars cheaper than the Dealer could; our savings are going to be hard to ignore, and no longer will warranties be an issue. If you see any of the CRO facilities guys, tell them Thank you, way to step up.
This week I met with the subcommittee again and we are still going thru articles 6,7 and 8, line by line, we are meeting in person in CLT 11/3-11/5 and hopefully we finalize these articles.
This week I also went thru our grievance back log and forwarded several issues for our second step meeting 11/6, although I don’t have any high hopes of getting much solved there, mainly because we already disagree or it wouldn’t be at second step, either way I will keep pushing them forward.
We ARE still hiring facilities in most trades, keep an eye out, and by all means let me know if I can help get your person of interest in the door.
Facilities still NEEDS union representatives for every shift and every trade, we will train you, if interested please let me or anyone of the E board know
- Budgeted headcount 316
- Current headcount 313
- Headcount on LOA 7
- Actual headcount 308
As always feel free to contact me anytime.

Working Grievances
I attended a WWC meeting in NYC at Local 100 this week.
Work Brain
Still having Work Brain issues around the base with some workers. Check it daily for accuracy. The time-clocks flag the company when you clock out late. So even 10 minutes, your clock out time could be flagged as unapproved for OT and points will appear.
Did You Know:
Attending the WWC this week was an educational experience. Local 100 always has great participation, new ideas and lots of union information. With over 40,000.00 members strong in the NYC area, TWU members literally move New York. I want to mention one of the important topics discussed, health scans. How many women and men take the time to get their thyroid and carotid arteries checked every year? Not just blood work and listening to the carotid artery with a stethoscope. Prostate for the men checked? Yearly mammograms for women? You are never too young. The earlier they catch anything is better than putting up with weird pain or a small ache you think is no big deal, so you wait till it feels worse? Then again maybe you don’t feel anything, but something is growing you didn’t know about. Make time for you and your health. One of our union Sisters had a regular yearly check-up with her doctor. Because of an offer to get a free thyroid scan about a month after her check-up, she is cancer free. Even though she had just had a yearly check-up at her doctors office, the scan found 3 nodules on her thyroid. She called her doctor and he said, “it’s ok your blood work came back just fine at your check-up”. She insisted her doctor do further testing after what the scan found. Two of them were benign and 1 was cancerous. Because of surgery and early detection, she is now cancer free. Keep in mind, blood work does not tell you about nodules on your thyroid. You have to be your own advocate for your health. Insist when you feel something is not right. If it ends up being nothing…..that’s great peace of mind. But what if it is something?
FALL Back is here-the time change is this Sunday (11/1/26). Fall back 1 hour!
VOTE LOUD!

AERO: The planned changes for shop 431 are still on track. Thank you to everyone who turned in their picks. We continue to be briefed weekly on the progress.
BENEFITS: The enrollment window is now open, so this may be a good time to review all insurance coverages, medical, home, and auto. In just a few short days, I have seen several members become educated and surprised by what they are paying for. The enrollment window is open from October 26 through November 13, 2026.
We had Erin O’Brien from Workstrategies visit our last union meeting to discuss “Proper Footwear” She pointed out how much damage we can do to our bodies by not paying attention to the shoes we wear to work. Remember this, “If your shoes are showing heavy wear, get a new pair”. If you want more information, stop by Erin’s office or give her team a call. (539) 283-4959

Base 9FF’s (AAERO, CRO, HGR 5) I spent some time this week in Admin assisting in the sorting and counts of the numbers.
- All (3) AAERO, CRO and Hgr 5 9FF’s were completed on Thursday and should be posted sometime Friday. All the results should be posted on the Bulletin Boards and possibly an email posting for your respective bid areas or base wide email. No one was forced to another area that did not volunteer.
- Hgr 5 (257) was the trickiest due to the fact that they wanted to maintain the 142 headcount for dock 5D! After all the Bids/Transfers and the that were put up last weekend and the shortage of the bid unit before hand, the final number for movement. 55 members transferred out of bid unit 257 which reduced the overall amounts.
- 257 AMT (88) reduced down to 39
- 257 Gen CC (10) Reduced down to 6
- 257A Avionics AMT (26) reduced down to 14
- 257A Avionics CC (6) Reduced down to 3
- Labor informed us that anyone bidding this last week and were awarded and anyone in the 9FF awarded will be bidding their Vacation and January Rebid in their new bid units.
