The bankruptcy laws of this country were set up to protect corporate assets and not people. Placing their futures into the hands of the bankruptcy court would have been a costly mistake for flight attendants.
Like ground workers represented by TWU, APFA’s members knew that they could not rely on a court decision for a fair settlement.
The acceptance of final offers by seven TWU bargaining units and now by the flight attendants doesn’t end the battle for fair wages and fair treatment at AMR. TWU will continue to work with the pilots, flight attendants and other work groups at AMR to explore all reorganization options, including merger, which will make our airline an industry leader and will provide fair and equitable treatment for all AMR employees.
