Brothers and Sisters,
It is a great honor to be re-elected President of the Transport Workers Union of America Local 514. Thank you for your confidence in me and for your support.
The first term we had many challenges. Challenges that were beyond my expectations and some that were highly emotional. We, as a Union persevered through all the trying times.
During the the 2013-2016 Local 514 term:
- We have handled over 3100 Grievances. We recovered over $915,000 from the company, money that went back into our members pockets.
- 344 members Retired
- 145 members Resigned
- 58 members were Terminated
- 22 New Hires
- 343 members, both active and retired have passed.
We have brought this local’s Finances from a -$600,000 per year deficit to a $500,000 per year abundance. You are the reason for this. By electing qualified leadership, you have made this happen.
I want to thank all the 2013-2016 Executive Board members for their tireless work in caring for this membership maintaining Dignity on the job, Safety in your workplace, and policing the contract. The changes this term brought from the bankruptcy agreement has not made the work we do easy.
Thank You to the great membership of this local and to those that have served them for the 2013-2016 term.
Looking forward,
I have a renewed outlook on the 2016-2019 Executive Board members, both the Newly elected and those back for another term. We will make progress and support your needs during this next three years. The new board will be sworn in at the July membership 3:45pm meeting, Monday the 25th. Please come by to help welcome them. The overwhelming support shown to me in being re-elected as your President is very humbling. Your voice was heard loud and clear with the team you chose. My immediate goal is to get you a long overdue contract to vote on.
I will be in negotiations 5 of the next 6 weeks. The new board and I will be meeting as soon as possible to discuss changes that I believe can provide better service to who we work for, you the member
Your support has given me great resolve to continue the work I started in my first term.
In Solidarity,
Dale Danker
President
