RE: In sourcing of Work at Three TWU Cities
Dear Brothers & Sisters:
By now, most of you have already learned through social media that American Airlines informed the TWU International yesterday that they plan to in source work at three locations. The identified cities are AUS, STL, and SJU. The current vendors at these locations, which provide ground handling of US Airways flights, were told that their services were no longer needed as we transition that work to the TWU members beginning in early November. The conversations regarding this work began at the beginning of the merger process when the TWU met with the new senior leadership team and we made the request to transfer the work back to our members.
In addition, we were also informed that there would be in sourcing being accomplished with the IAM at the following cities BDL, BWI, EWR, FLL, PBI, PDX, and PIT during the same time frame of early November 2014.
These changes in station staffing will provide significant opportunities, both for TWU members as well as our partners at IAM. The biggest benefit will result in station staffing head count, as well as the Preferential Hiring agreement that is in place for our members.
Fraternally,
