New! Deadline extended to Aug. 12 for voluntary leave and early out programs
The deadline for the long-term voluntary leave of absence and voluntary early out programs for active, U.S.-based mainline represented team members, excluding pilots, has been extended to Aug. 12 at 11:59 p.m. CT. We’ve received feedback from team members that given the magnitude of these decisions and questions about the programs, additional time to consider your options and understand the details would be helpful. For more information about the programs, including informational guides, visit Jetnet. To learn more about the Retiree Health Reimbursement Arrangement, one of the features of the enhanced early out program for eligible team members, watch the Tell Me Why episode featuring Pankaj Kadam, Managing Director of Benefits.

Aviation Labor Leaders Applaud Bipartisan Majority Push for Extension of Payroll Support Program
“We applaud Reps. Peter DeFazio, Brian Fitzpatrick, Rick Larsen, John Katko, Sharice Davids, Karen Bass, Rodney Davis, and 216 of their colleagues for recognizing the severity of the crisis we face and fighting for the health and welfare of America’s frontline aviation workforce.
“Airline industry employment, and the collective skill set and knowledge base held by aviation workers, cannot simply be put back together overnight. As airlines continue to struggle amid the COVID-19 crisis, and demand for air travel remains significantly below last year’s levels, an extension of the PSP jobs program is necessary to avoid massive layoffs in this industry. Without an extension of this program, tens of thousands of aviation workers could find themselves on the unemployment line this fall, causing potentially catastrophic consequences to this industry and our broader economy.
“By extending PSP grants, Congress has the power to ensure airline workers will continue to stay on payroll with benefits, prevent mass unemployment in October, and keep aviation workers ready to turn the industry around once this crisis is behind us.”

Time is Running Out! Act Now and Urge Congress to Safeguard Aviation Jobs
TWU members have all put their lives at risk to serve the public during this pandemic. Federal funding is running out and our jobs are at risk of disappearing if Congress doesn’t extend worker protections in the airline industry before October 1. The CARES Act helped save transportation workers jobs, wages, and benefits by prohibiting involuntary furloughs or wage reductions at airlines through the Payroll Support Program (PSP). It is time to ask your elected officials to renew this program and pass a clean extension of the Payroll Support Program (PSP) through March 31, 2021. Without an extension of the PSP grant job program, tens of thousands of aviation jobs will be lost before the end of the year.
TWU members cannot afford a delay. American Airlines has already announced that it is planning to furlough more than 8,000 flight attendants on October 1. As our economy struggles to recover from the effects of the ongoing pandemic, more jobs will be lost if we don’t take action now. Congress must act fast to save OUR jobs before time runs out.
Take action and send a letter to Congress today.
