The VOTE we were promised
514 members,
Rollie Reaves President of TWU Local 567, Gary Schaible President TWU Local 591 and I called a meeting of all three Executive Boards to discuss the Association. This meeting took place in Dallas on Thursday May 12th. We discussed in detail and drafted a petition letter that was signed by all in attendance. That petition was submitted timely to the AFL-CIO to be heard at their convention. I’m asking for everyone to sign a blue card. We need every resource available to put pressure on the AFL-CIO to intervene in this mess we were put into without our input.
The meeting was well received by all. It’s my belief as well as Rollie’s and Gary’s that we need to continue to put our officers in the same room to discuss issues that affect everyone. Unity to prepare for the next round of negotiations that can start as early as September 2024. We need to take every step to ensure that the local Presidents are allowed at the negotiation table. The fact that the Association leadership kept Gary, Rollie and I out of the room and unable to be a voice for our membership should be illegal under the RLA rules, but the Association documents allow it.
Unity,

Profit Sharing Letter – May 19th 2022
514 Members,
On May 10th, I along with all other TWU local presidents had a conference call with TWU Air Division Director Gary Peterson. On that call we discussed and voted on the changing of the time periods to calculate for Profit Sharing payouts. I voted, along with the majority of presidents to move the dates in hopes that we could get a profit sharing check in our pockets for the year of 2022. All of your efforts at work will go towards this goal.
2021 was the pandemic year and no profits to be had, This letter is for June of 2023 payment if profits are achieved for the 2022 year.
Thank you for what you do every day.
Unity
Dale Danker
President TWU Local 514

Wrong Cards:
As some of you are aware, we have those on work property, who are pushing amfa NMB cards to our AMT maintenance/Cleaners/Facilities maintenance/OSM work groups. amfa will not be happy until they bust a union, creating chaos in their continual attempts. Some amfa followers may have lied to deceive union workers to sign cards, especially new hires, who may not fully understand the meaning of UNIONISM. I am proud the TWU is standing strong for Southwest Airlines workers in maintenance. Many of those workers are now signing NMB cards to be TWU, a REAL UNION that fights for ALL workers rights and to keep work in house as much as possible, not give it away willingly. Our presence within the AFL-CIO stands with millions of members for union workers across our Nation and within our industry. Educating the un-organized on union rights helps our communities grow in work standards/pay and treat workers with the dignity/respect they deserve. Keep in mind what our TWU Constitution, our TWU514 By-Laws say about dual unionism and handing out NMB cards on organized property or on AA/TWU off sites. I bring this information to you as MLS, so we are aware and educated on what is happening within other workgroups. United we Stand-Divided we Fall.
Read our Contract agreement; the Preamble-Article 1 on Purpose of Agreement. The unions on property are TWU and IAM. NOT amfa.
Read ART. XV Sec. 3&4 in our updated TWU Constitution
Read ART. VIII Sec. 8 (d) in our TWU514 By-Laws that state any employee eligible for membership in Local514. These are all on the www.twu514.org site. It is important information to understand. If you see someone handing out NMB amfa cards on property, this is against the TWU By-Laws/Constitution. The worker pushing amfa NMB cards (name and emp #) may be brought up on charges of dual unionism. This is our base, our union, NOT amfa’s. It’s not being against another co-worker in any way, it’s following our TWU By-Laws and Constitution, respectfully.
Blue Cards – Right Cards (AFL-CIO)
Blue request cards are being handed out by TWU. These cards are NOT NMB cards. These are cards specifically for the AFL-CIO, asking for a vote to be allowed by members of TWU/IAM on which union they want to represent them. The blue cards being collected will be taken to Washington DC to Liz Schuler – AFL-CIO President. I do not want amfa supporters giving out wrong information on purpose to create confusion and take away from this important ask of Ms. Schuler. The blue cards are a show of support with over 10,000 TWU/IAM members asking the AFL-CIO to allow union members a vote they were promised before the Association was formed. The union members deserve the opportunity to have a vote for (TWU or IAM). There is no time limit on turning the cards in since they are not NMB cards, however the sooner the better. Again, the blue cards are simply TWU/IAM show of support cards and our ask for a vote to be held. Do not sign just any card handed to you or listen to rumors and union busting rhetoric. Ask questions and know what you are signing/ supporting. Contact Local514 if anyone is asking you to sign an amfa NMB card while on property. If you or any of your co-workers have questions, have them contact any Officer of TWU Local514. Our Union-Our House. We value your input, your voice and ask questions to know factual answers. To sign a blue card today, get a hold of your Shop Steward or TWU Officer. Turn them back in to your Shop Steward, take them to the Grievance Office or bring them by the Union Hall. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Linda
