Sick time accrual 2020

I have been hearing this question from the floor.

Why do I have an extra 24 hours sick time in my bank?

Last week (October 1,2020)  we were given 24 hours of sick time; this was added to our sick banks.

It is our understanding that on or before December 31st 2020, we will have accrued a total of 80 hours sick time for the year of 2020, per the new contract.

I have created the below chart to help us understand the sick time accrual process. As we all have different amounts of sick time, I will be basing this on having zero hours starting the year.

Starting in 2021, we will earn 8 hours of sick time after 80 hours worked. So that would start you off with 8 hours on or about the 15th of January 2021. The chart below shows what the monthly accrual would be. There are no hours accrued during June and October per our current agreement. We used the Zero hours in January to help understand what the accrual will look like.

Back in May of 2020 we posted:

Implementation of sick time:

Legacy American TWU employees’ sick bank shall be credited with up to ten (10) days no later than December 31, 2020, based on any ten (10) months in 2020 where at least 80 hours were worked by the respective employee.(REF Implantation Agreement dated March27,2020)

Sick Time accrual in 2021
