Obituary for John L. Wood

John Lewis Wood, 98 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Sunday, June 21, 2020 in Broken Arrow. He was born June 11, 1922 in Cowlington, Oklahoma to his parents, James Ona Wood and Martha Zena Boatright Wood. He married the love of his life, Priscilla Taylor on June 20, 1942 and they have shared in over 78 wonderful years together.

John was a United States Army Veteran, serving during WWII, a retired aircraft mechanic from American Airlines and a Free Will Baptist minister. He loved his faith and his family dearly. He was an avid gardener and was not afraid to tackle anything mechanical.

John is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Wood of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; six children, David Wood and his wife Doresa of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Edward Wood and his wife Barbara of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Tommy Wood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jo Ellen Ward of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jackie Nicolas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Carol Holden and her husband Steve of Fair Grove, Missouri; three siblings, Herman Wood and his wife Mary of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Corrine Rouell of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Willene Tahkofper of Del City, Oklahoma; many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and lots of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ona and Zena Wood; one son, Philip Wood and seven siblings.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hermon Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
