The Passing of Retired Brother Donald Michel

We are deeply saddened to share with you the passing of retired Brother Donald Michel on October 7, 2024.

Donald started working with us here at American Airlines in 1988 and retired from the position of Aviation Maintenance Mechanic – Machinist in 2006.

Passed away Oct 7th, 2024 at 5 pm surrounded by family at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa OK. Born in Toledo OH on Dec 8 1944

Survivors are his Wife, Barbara Michel, of 57 years, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His Daughters and Sons in Law Christine and Jeffrey Traynor of Joplin, Missouri. Cheryl and Matthew Beese of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Sam Burnside of Webb City, Missouri. Morgan Burnside and fiance Micah Alford of Portland Oregon, and Sloane Beese of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Sisters Pat (John) Schieber of Coppel, TX and Sue (Bob) Karhoff of Kalida, OH. Sisters in Law Barbara Schrieber of Ohio City, OH, Ruth Hovest of Gilboa, OH, Janet Hovest of Gladorf, OH, Janet (Tom) Hermiller of Columbus Grove, OH. Brothers in law Joe (LInda) Hovest of Kalida, OH, Albert Hovest of Cairo, OH, and Tim Parys of Bowling Green, KY.

Preceded in death by his Mother and Stepfather Mildred and Ike Schrieber, Brother Jerry Shcrieber, Mother in Law Blanche Hovest and Granddaughter Alexis Burnside. Brothers in Law James Hovest, Kenny Hovest, Mel Hovest, Larry Moore, and Sisters in Law Sandy Moore and Darlene Parys.

Donald worked at Clark Equipment in Lima, Oh for 19 years. He retired from American Airlines after 20 years as a mechanic.

Donald loved to travel and go on cruises. He loved gambling at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He loved his family dearly and spending time with them.

Donald loved Bob Seger music. He was a huge Elvis fan and his family hopes that he is enjoying a private Elvis concert as you are reading this obituary.

Donald said to not shed a tear because he had a happy life and enjoyed it to the fullest.
