Local 514’s Digest for the week of May 9, 2025

TWU Local 514

President:

The company has informed the Association that some engine work being performed in Tulsa and other stations will be outsourced due to the tariffs being imposed by the Government. It is QEC-type work here in Tulsa and not heavy engine overhaul on the Trent 800 series engines used on the 777. The company informed me that we have a volume of 16 per year and this will not impact the head count in that bid area.

Please read the Association letter here.

The company is pushing safety glasses and bump caps in work areas that they determine need that type of PPE. In AO I’m told supervisors are telling people that safety glasses are required from the time you enter the building until you exit the building. That is an unrealistic expectation and not what the MD of the base has shared with me. In simple terms, if it makes sense to have safety glasses and a bump cap on to be safe and not get hurt please consider wearing them.

Shift betterment: the goal of this Union is to give people on undesirable shifts an opportunity to get off that shift. We will continue to push the company to do shift betterment’s when an opening occurs in your bid area.

As always I’m available 24/7 at 918-636-6089.

Take care

Dale Danker

Daron Morgan:

  • Monday, May 5th our board met with the company on shift betterment and set up additional meetings.
  • Wednesday and Thursday, I was in Edmond Ok for the 26th Annual Oklahoma Labor/Management Conference.    The name is a little deceiving.  There were no members of management there.  The speakers doing the presentations were attorneys that have represented companies and Unions in arbitration’s.  There was also a Federal Mediator that was in attendance on his on dime as well.  It was very informative and educational.
  • Tulsa Oilers Football next home game will be Saturday night.  Tickets and vouchers are available at the hall and at the grievance office
  • Registration is live for the 2025 TWU Family Fun Day Saturday June 21st at the WeStreet Ice Center.  You must be registered to attend.  If you cannot login to the TWU Website, contact an officer, and we can get you reset

Grievances

  • Dale, George, and I have been in Hangars Five and Six this week investigating the dodgeball grievance.
  • I’ve been working on a list of crew chief-known outage grievances that are labeled as having no information.
    • It is very difficult to compile all the necessary information to move these grievances forward when they were originally submitted without any details.  To all Union Stewards: please ensure that you include all relevant information you believe will be needed to present the grievance effectively in an arbitration case when you file the grievance.
