Leaves of absences can be found in 3 articles of the TWU/AA contract. The quick and easy is the following chart found at the end of Article 17 “Leaves of Absence”.
The other 2 articles are Article 18 “Military Leave” and Article 34 “Sick Leave/Unused Sick Leave”
One of the major surprises in leaves of absences occurs when looking at retirement and credited service time is calculated. Pension accrual does NOT accrue under unpaid sick leave or unpaid injury on duty.
