Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:
Running on empty
I understand every work group is low on headcount, your facilities team headcount is approximately 40% less than what it was a short time ago and the facility has not shrank but expanded in equipment.
As a remedy to this situation Management is choosing to source out (contractors) the work that AA FMG has historically done in the past, the prevalent issue with this is no one in FMG has the opportunity to check the work being done by the contractors, therefore there is a real incentive for contractors not to do the job they are contracted to do.
Here are just a few examples of work that is now sourced out and you be the judge.
- Trouble call number itself
- Security
- Restroom/Break Room cleaning
- Parking lot snow removal
- AA FMG currently does inside turnstiles
- Approximately 75% of Electrical remodel
- We have had 4 electrical fires in the past 2 years, previous to this there were none.
- Concrete
- Painting
- GSE the company is using rental equipment instead of buying new equipment and rental equipment is not being maintained.
- Camera/Turnstiles/ badge readers/Phone system/paging system
Let your leaders know the services AA is receiving from contractors is unacceptable.
As always feel free to contact me at anytime.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
This spring, American Red Cross volunteers will Sound the Alarm by educating local families about home fire safety. We’ll help families create an escape plan to practice their 2-minute drill, so they can safely escape a home fire.
In 2023, the Kansas Oklahoma Region made 1,256 homes safer and installed 2,568 smoke alarms. On March 2nd, we will continue to educate households on the importance of home fire safety. We are counting on volunteers like you to help!
Below are a couple of ways you can help:
Volunteer to help Sound the Alarm. Save a Life.
Saturday, March 2nd at the Tulsa Dream Center at 8:30am
Registration is open! Click here to sign up to volunteer on March 2nd to help us install smoke alarms and commit to joining other volunteers across the country in supporting Sound the Alarm.
Volunteer to help us inform the communities by pre-canvassing.
Saturday, February 10th at the American Red Cross Office at 10:00am
Click here to sign up to help on February 10th to help us pre-canvas neighborhoods. Volunteers do not enter homes, but simply leave door hangers to build awareness of the upcoming alarm installation event.
We appreciate everything you do to make homes safer in the Kansas Oklahoma Region. If you have any questions about volunteering with Sound the Alarm, please contact Michael Chancia at Michael.chancia@redcross.org.

It looks like the MLK parade / celebration will now be held on Feb 17, 2024. Come out and celebrate his contribution to labor. Remember it’s more than the messenger , it is also the message.
In 2009 Arlene Holt Baker became the first woman and first black to be elected to head the AFL-CIO. She served in that role for four years. Her breakthrough to the top position of the union movement paved the way for more women to be taken serious and get elected to lead their locals, lodges, and councils.

Here is how to find it:
- Log in to the fidelity website

PERFORMANCE
- You may or may not have noticed the Performance Counseling Chart in Jetnet. It is located in my view, right under the Sick Points Chart. The company is starting to utilize this more. In Jetnet, you can search for Performance Counseling Guidelines, and you can review the AA policy there.
Unpaid MLOA
If you are out on an unpaid MLOA, please know that prior to returning to work, you will have to clear Compliance. When you have your return to work date, I would recommend that you get with the LTA’s and get the return to work process and compliance check started, prior to your return to work date. If you wait until your return to work date to start the process, you will be sent home until the Compliance check is completed.
