President:

The Union’s position on Vendors doing work on aircraft at the base is a violation of our agreement. I’m told by our International Rep, Rollie Reaves there will be an International grievance filed against this violation.
If you are a crew chief and you have an opinion on how best to handle the bid process, that I call “dodgeball/pickem in the Presidential grievance I filed on Tulsa’s behalf, please call or text me at your convenience to share your thoughts. I can be reached at 918-636-6089 or I can come to your area to visit with you.
Vice President:
Why participate in COPE?
The FAA Reauthorization Bill passes overwhelmingly in both the House and Senate. This Bill will give us a level playing field on work rules and regulations including background checks and drug testing requirements. It also requires any facility foreign or domestic is subject to FAA inspections without notice.
This is a huge win for our maintenance industry.
Recording Secretary:
I attended the COPE Convention along with other members of the Executive Board. I was proud of the Local 514 members of the Board, the professionalism and knowledge they showed in the meetings with the Senators and Representative Staff was outstanding. With the passing of the FAA Reauthorization Bill was another great win for the Aviation Industry. Again this shows the importance of contributing to COPE , I encourage members to contribute and this gives us the power to continue the fight.
Chairman of Material Logistics Specialist:
I spent the week on Capitol Hill. The FAA Reauthorization Bill was passed by both the House and Senate. This will return good union jobs to the U.S. and put us on a level playing field with MRO’s. We also helped lobby for Federal Operating Support for Public Transit and The Railway Safety Act of 2023. It was nice to meet our union brothers and sisters from other Divisions of TWU.
- Currently have 481 MLS and 13 on LOA, we have a new hire class starting June 10th.
- Please stay current on training.
- Family Day Event is June 1st. You can sign up on the TWU website.

Executive Board Members at Large:
George
As with the other officers, I attended the COPE Convention in DC this week. We met with Senator Mullin , Senator Lankford, Representatives Brecheen & Hern’s Assistants. Late on Tuesday we received word that the FAA Reauthorization bill had passed. On Wednesday Representatives Pat Ryan (NY) , Don Bacon (NE) & Senator Sherrod Brown (OH) came to speak to us.
COPE supports Representatives & Senators that are labor friendly, regardless of their political affiliation.
I would also like to say Congratulations to Tracy Hardin & Jay Potter for receiving COPE Awards.

FAA Reauthorization Bill
- It was an honor to represent the Tulsa Base and all the representatives of the TWU this week in going to Washington DC. We were able to Lobby our Federal Senators, and Representatives on Tuesday. This was done due to COPE donations and we overwhelmingly received bipartisan support. The senate passed the bill 88-4 and the House passed the bill 387-26. This has been an ongoing effort for over 30 years. This would not have been able to happen without COPE approaching Republican and Democrat Representatives the last few years under TWU President Samuelsen’s guidance, which is to support whatever candidate that is Pro Labor. By getting numerous Republicans onboard with the Democrats to help the bills pass overwhelmingly.
We also helped lobby on behalf of Transit and Rail on their respective bills. Both of which deal with Safety related issues. The Railway Safety Act and the Federal Operating Support for Public Transit.

Daron Morgan:
On Sunday morning May 12th, we flew out to DC for the 2024 Legislative and Cope Conference, in order to lobby for the following Bills. The FAA Reauthorization Bill, The Railway Safety Act, and the Federal Funding for the Transit Operations.
Monday morning we started out at 7am and were in General Sessions until 5 pm
On Tuesday morning, we started at 7 am, we were scheduled for a group Photo with all of the International Officers on Capitol Hill, but due to the rain, we did the photo shoot inside the Hotel. At 11 am, we were scheduled to meet with Senator Mark Wayne Mullins, he was unavailable to meet, but we did get to meet with Bennett Crow, who is on his staff. At 11:30 am, we were scheduled to meet with Senator James Lankford, and he was unavailable, but we met with Theresa Jeffrey. Both of our Senators were in full support of the FAA Reauthorization Bill. At 1:30 pm, we were scheduled to meet with Josh Brecheen, but he was unavailable, so we met with one of his aides. At 2 pm we met briefly with Representative Kevin Hearn. We took a quick pic, and then he was off to the house for an upcoming vote. We did visit with one of his aides as well. It was important that we were out there and made our presence because Tuesday evening, the vote for the FAA Reauthorization Bill was going to take place. However, that vote did not happen until Wednesday, and it passed hugely with bipartisan support!
Wednesday Morning, we started off at 8 am and were in General Sessions for the remainder of the day. We had a couple of guest speakers Republican US Congressman Don Bacon from Nebraska, and Democrat US Congressman Pat Ryan. Both speakers were very educated and very moving. Listening to these guys speak gave me great hopes for the American Workforce, and we still have a voice in Washington DC.
Thursday afternoon, we flew back to Tulsa. However, due to weather delays in Multiple cities, our flight was delayed, so we were late getting home.
It was an honor to be in DC during this time. Our Local 514 membership was represented to the highest level.
I had multiple phone call and emails while I was in DC. I believe I answered all of them. If I did not, I apologize.
Due to being out of town this past week, and Craig Sully being out of town as well, we have agreed to reschedule our Tuesday, May 21st, 2nd step grievance meeting to a later date, so we both have time to prepare.
Saturday June 1st, is our TWU 2024 Family Day at Mohawk Park. There will be many events and activities going on this day. Please be sure to sign up on the TWU Website, as signups will be closing down on May 27th. We are still needing volunteers as well as vendors for this event. If interested in participating please reach out to us. We are 15 days away from this GREAT EVENT that is getting ready to happen.
Saturday June 1st is also the Tulsa Oilers next home football game. We have tickets available at the Union Hall and in the Grievance office. The Tulsa Oilers have a free Jersey promotion going on that day.
