Local 514’s Digest for the week of Oct 21, 2022

President:

All,

I took a trip to Brooklyn, NY last week along with Rollie Reaves (Pres 567), and Gary Schaible (Pres 591), to continue the discussion about issues with this Association. John Samuelsen understands our frustrations, but reiterated the extreme difficulties of our marriage with the IAM through the Association constitution. My position was clear to him, “we cannot go into the next round of negotiations and have the IAM and our own leadership lock us out of negotiations”.

We are still collecting blue cards to take to the AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler. Her previous boss Richard Trumka advised our International President at the time, Jim Little and IAM President Tom Buffenburger to put us into this ridiculous situation.

Read the Trumka letter here…..

Vice President:

The working women’s committee has been collecting new socks and underwear for the Day Center for the Homeless. You can drop off items at the Union Hall, Grievance Office, or at 4D with Betty Palmer.

We are also doing a toy and food drive. The food will go to members who are on unpaid leaves. You can drop off items at the Union Hall or Grievance Office.

We continue to work on grievances. Please work with the Union Representatives for the information needed.

I attended the Base Business Review meeting with Dale and Jay. Hangars 5 and 6 are doing an excellent job. We still show we need improvement in Hangars 1, 2, and 3. AAERO is continuing to be best in the business on their engine turn times. They will be getting 13 plus extra engines this year. CRO landing gear brought in 3 777 landing gear that were scheduled to be outsourced. Overall Tulsa Base is improving. Let’s continue to keep up the good work.

Just as a reminder to everyone, especially new hires, we work in a DOT regulated environment. Medical marijuana is not approved or accepted. Do not think that if you have a card it is okay to use because it is not.
