Local 514 Digest for the week of April 2, 2021

Day Off changes

The company continues to insist on adding the Tuesday/Wednesday day off schedule to AO.

They believe this will help cut the overtime in the hangars. Although we disagree entirely and think that they have not fulfilled the contractual obligations to make every reasonable effort to arrange work schedules so that, whenever practicable, those days will be Saturday and Sunday. On the contrary, they are taking more Saturday/Sunday day off schedules away. There will be 95% of Hangars 1/2/3 members who will not have Saturday/Sunday off. 88% in Hangars 5&6 will not have Saturday/Sunday off.

We have met with the company on multiple occasions, and they refuse to consider any input. In fact, one Director stated “the day off pattern is a done deal”. Another, when asked by a Crew Chief, “When did you ask us to get involved?” said “Today. I didn’t have to contractually.”

Dale Danker met with David Seymour to go over the “Sangricco Plan” and let him know “it will break our backs, and we won’t be able to recover from it.”

As Dale likes to say, “The beatings will continue until morale improves.”

Crew Chief coverage

Again, the company continues to stretch the language of the contract to benefit themselves and harm our members. The upcoming AO Re-bid will not allow you to bid your Crew Chief. They are grouping Crew Chiefs in individual areas to maintain the “contractual ratio”, so that when one Crew Chief is absent they will not offer overtime. This is a 180 degree turn since the last Bid.
