Safety, Care and Concern letter from TWU 514’s Vice President, Ray Wilson

Ray Wilson
Vice President

It has come to my attention that one of our brothers had an accident, one that needed immediate medical attention. The ERT were notified, reacted accordingly and had the mechanic in qualified hands as soon as they possibly could.

The member was home healing, waiting on treatment after several days had passed, he was in contact with sedgewick (workers comp coordinator) and found that No proper injury report had been filed. This delayed his medical needs for over a week. This placed the members health in great risk. This could have been avoided if proper steps would have been taken.

Although the circumstances surrounding this situation may have been unique, it makes me want to share this so that it may not be repeated.

Please take time and share the American Airlines IOD Guide for Tulsa HERE with our Brother and Sisters.

Failing to treat at one of the approved clinics may jeopardize your claim. Obtaining prompt medical care is very important in the treatment of your injury and to prevent any delay in the processing of your claim.

These are the rules we live by in Oklahoma’s Workers Compensation. These laws have been made by the people we elect to office. This reminds me why we as a Union have a role in politics.

I want to thank our ERT group. They go above and beyond for all of us and that is commendable.

Remember, Being Union is All of Our Jobs, We have to stand together, it is the only way we can fight to keep Safety in the Workplace, Dignity on the job and a Living Wage.

In Solidarity,

Ray Wilson
