Lewis Edward Weldon was born on October 1, 1930 at Armand Lowery Oil Lease on Cedar Creek at the south edge of Cleveland, Oklahoma. His parents were Leo Garth and Ruby Irene (Storm) Weldon. He had three siblings, Leona Bell Weldon, Mary Sue Weldon, John Phillip Weldon and a stillborn brother; all of whom are deceased. Lewis attended 12 years of school at Cleveland. After graduation, he joined the US Navy on his 18th birthday (Oct. 1, 1948). He was stationed at North Island Air Station in San Diego, California. While there he was in a seaplane squadron VP-43. Later he was transferred to the east coast, spending a year in Key West, Florida and another year in Jacksonville, Florida at Cecil Field. Lewis was then sent to New York City and assigned to the USS Wasp, CV-18 sailing to the Mediterranean Sea on deployment. Following his military service, Lewis returned to Oklahoma and gained employment with American Airlines in Tulsa. He retired from American after 41 years, most of which as a Crew Chief on jet engines. Lewis married Thelma Delores Smith in Cleveland on September 5, 1953. To this union, four sons were born. Delores passed away in 1986; and on June 4, 1999, he married Evelois Ann Brisbin.

During his earlier years, Lewis was active with the Boy Scouts, including being a scout leader when his sons were scouts. He was always willing to help others, mowing lawns for the elderly; and he would stop and try to help people when they were broke down along the highway. After retirement, Lewis enjoyed flying and keeping busy helping build churches and other structures in the Cleveland area. He also enjoyed helping with Meals on Wheels and volunteering at Blood Drives for the American Red Cross; having donated over 100 pints of blood himself over the years.
