Local 514’s Digest for the week of July 4th, 2025

TWU Local 514

President:

Jay Potter and I traveled this week to Miami, Florida to sit with the Association Attorneys and go through the “dodgeball” presidential grievance and other grievances that have an impact on the company’s violation of the bid process. The review went well and the attorney we worked with thought our presentation was organized and to the point. Jay and I will travel Monday to Chicago to present the case in Mediation.

Have a safe and enjoyable July 4th and hug your loved ones. Also, please continue to pray for my good friend Rollie Reaves and his family.

I can be reached 24/7 at 918-913-8057.

Take care,

Dale Danker

Vice President:

Wishing everyone a safe and fun 4th of July celebration.

We have had issues with management directing crew chiefs on who to assign to jobs. This is a crew chief’s function. Management may direct a crew chief on what to work on, but the crew chief determines who will do the work. If this is happening in your area, please contact a Union officer.

There is a company policy on recording. You can find the full article on Jetnet. Here is a paragraph that you need to know. You can not record team members without their knowledge or consent.

“Cellphones are great. Almost everyone has one, but before you take photos or make audio or video recordings on Company property, talk to (get permission from) your immediate manager first. We don’t want to give away the confidentiality of the Company’s trade secrets and proprietary or other protected information or invade the personal privacy of other team members or our customers.  It is never appropriate to record team members or customers without their knowledge and consent.”

Marla Johnson

Recording Secretary:

Happy Fourth of July, stay safe, and enjoy your time off with your family.

Remember, Election Ballots must be in the post office box before July 18th. The Election Committee will retrieve ballots at 8:30 AM on July 18th.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

So before you go on your Holiday weekend look around and see if there is anything we need to do while everyone else is off, if you find things that do need to be done, don’t hesitate to let your crew chief and supervisor know that this would be the ideal time to get these projects complete.

We are currently trying to get our required pm’s for every trade back in TMA,this is going to be a long process  that we need everyone’s help to accomplish. if you know of any pm’s that we use to have and no longer do please contact me with any information you have.

Tracy Hardin:

AERO:

I have spoken with a few mechanics that have confirmed a little uptick with the amount of work coming in. Not all areas are back to 2024 level, but work is coming your way.

If you find yourself needing some extra training, ask your crew chief to reach out to the tech crew chiefs or the training department. Don’t feel left out, the more you know the more valuable you are to the operation.

I have had some grievances that may not always lead to a monetary outcome, but they do shed light on operational mistakes. Stay involved.

BENEFITS:

If you or someone in your family is a caregiver, there is a FREE Lifestyle and Wellness EXPO next Tuesday, July 8th. It will be held at Expo Square from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm and will give you access to over 150 exhibitors that may offer information to simplify your life.

VETERANS:

There is a veterans committee meeting planned for July 10th at 9am in the grievance office and 3:30 pm at the union hall. If you can’t make it, give me a call or email.

The Passing of Retired Brother William Joslin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our retired brother, William Joslin, on June 18th, 2025. Brother Joslin began his tenure with American Airlines in 1967 and worked tirelessly for nearly three decades, ultimately retiring as a Crew Chief Aviation Maintenance Technician in 1996. His commitment to his profession was unwavering, and …
