Profit-Sharing Special Elections

*Please note that regardless of the percentage you defer to your 401(k), the profit-sharing payout, just like other pretax 401(k) deferrals and special elections, is subject to FICA (which includes Social Security and Medicare), state and local taxes, garnishments, union dues and overpayment recovery. Therefore, even if you elect 100% pretax deferral, these deductions must be withheld prior to being contributed to the 401(k). Please plan your deferral elections accordingly.

**Please note that regardless of the percentage you defer to your pension, the profit-sharing payout, just like other deferrals and special elections, is subject to all applicable taxes. Therefore, even if you elect 100% deferral, these deductions must be withheld prior to being contributed to the pension. Please plan your deferral elections accordingly.

Prepare for your 2023 profit-sharing payout: Review your special election

From Jetnet

Payout of the 2023 profit-sharing award is scheduled for March 6, and contributing all or a portion of any special payment is a great way to put extra dollars in a retirement account. If you are an eligible U.S.-based team member, you have the option to contribute all or a portion of your profit-sharing award to your 401(k) account. Likewise, if you’re a Canada-based team member and eligible to participate in the pension, you can make a special election to your American Airlines Canadian Pension Plan account. (Other international team members should consult their people business partner for more details.)

Instructions for U.S.-based team members

Please review your special election 401(k) contribution percentages* at Fidelity NetBenefits by Feb. 26, 4 p.m. ET. If changes are not made, the special election percentages you currently have on file with Fidelity Investments will be deducted from your profit-sharing payout. If applicable, this special election contribution counts toward the overall company 401(k) match you are eligible to receive.

Keep in mind that the IRS sets 401(k) contribution limits each year. For more information on those limits and other criteria, please visit my.aa.com.

To CONFIRM your special election 401(k) contribution percentages

Step 1: Log in to your Fidelity NetBenefits account.

Step 2: From the top of the homepage, choose Accounts & Benefits, then Manage Contributions.

Step 3: Select Contribution Amount.

Step 4: Select Begin Change Contributions.

Step 5: Scroll down to Other Contributions.

Step 6: Review your special election 401(k) contribution percentages.

To ADJUST your special election 401(k) contribution percentages

Step 7: In the Other Contributions section, update the percentage in the Desired Election box.

Step 8: Click Change Contribution Amount.

Step 9: Review your desired contribution amounts, and click Submit if all looks correct.

If you prefer, you may also call the American Airlines Service Center at Fidelity at 800-354-3412 from 8:30 a.m. to midnight ET to review and update your special election.

The contributions displaying on your March 6 pay statement will post to your 401(k) account March 6 and will be viewable at netbenefits.com/aa March 7.
