- Regular Order of Business
Message from AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler
- Today, we send support and solidarity to the working people of Ukraine who face the devastating impact of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s military attack on their country.
- We support President Biden’s call for a unified response by the global community to bring an end to the attack on Ukraine.
- The consequences of the attack on Ukraine are vast—tens of thousands of lives may be lost in the first few days of fighting, and the stability of the global economy and the international order is at risk.
- We will work together with the global labor movement and our respective governments to re-establish a common security framework that stops violent conflicts like the one against Ukraine and prioritizes investments in our shared economic security.
AMFA again fails to understand the meaning of craft and class and is denied by the NMB
Another Fail.
This determination addresses the application filed by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) alleging a representation dispute pursuant to the Railway Labor Act (RLA), 45 U.S.C. §152, Ninth (Section 2, Ninth),1 among “Maintenance Controllers” at JetBlue Airways Corporation (JetBlue or Carrier).
For the reasons set forth below, the National Mediation Board (Board or NMB) finds that “Maintenance Controllers” is not a distinct craft or class at JetBlue but rather are part of the Mechanics and Related Employees craft or class and, therefore, dismisses the application.
February 23-24, 2022 Weather Event
During this weather event the company has stated that all DAT’s and Comp days will be approved, just send an email to Tulsa.administration.center@aa.com.
The decision was not made by the Local, State or Federal Government during this event that would activate Article 14(K.
As far as a Contractual right, this is what we have in our CBA:
Article 14 – Hours of Service
K. When a decision is made by Federal, State or Local Government officials that prohibits an individual employee from reporting to work (i.e. Travel Ban, Curfew, or State of Emergency), the employee will notify the Company as soon as practical, and the Company will approve the options listed below.
-
-
-
An employee who is scheduled and reports to work on time will be entitled to full pay for the day, unless the employee voluntarily agrees to either take the rest of the day off without pay, or to use any other compensated time off (excluding block vacation and sick) to make up his wages for time missed when absent due to adverse conditions.
-
An employee arriving later than the beginning of the shift will be paid only for the actual hours worked and may use HAT (paid in a minimum of one (1) hour increments at straight time) to cover any time lost, or take time missed without pay at the employee’s option.
-
When an employee is absent due to adverse conditions, and is unable to report to work, he will not receive regular pay for that day. The employee, at his option, may use any other compensated time off (excluding block vacation and sick) to make up his wages for time missed when absent due to adverse conditions.
-
If any of the above applies, an employee will not be charged with an absence/tardiness under the attendance control policy.
-
-
If you have had any problems with attendance during the February 23/24th event and it was not handled by the company according to their above statement, please contact your Union Steward so we can investigate and seek to remedy the issue.
As always Practice Caution in times of adverse weather conditions.

Calling on Volunteers!
The Oklahoma State AFL-CIO has partnered with the Major League Fishing for the 2022 Redcrest Expo.
The Redcrest Expo is a free family friendly event from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Friday, March 25th, Saturday, March 26th and Sunday March, 27th at the Tulsa Expo Square.
During the Expo, volunteers will be assembling fish habitats out of PVC and wooden pallets; and this year, the task has been given to Local Unions to gather Teams of 10 Members to fill up 12 shifts over the three Expo days.
Each shift is 3 hours long and needs 10 team members.
That is 120 volunteers needed!
The shifts start at 10 am and end at 7 pm each day. All ages are welcome! And not everyone needs to be a Union Member.
Contact Tracy Hardin at 918-409-5962 or Kendal Anderson at 918-437-4300 to volunteer
