Local 514 Digest for the Week of July 1st, 2022

Meeting with Sangricco

During this week’s Directors meeting with Ed Sangricco he informed us that his team was looking at splitting up the hangars into individual docks or sister docks. As I stated in last week’s digest I was opposed to this for several reasons. I told them that if they would entertain eliminating Tues/Wed off shift patterns then we might be interested in listening to their talks of reducing the bid area sizes.

Ed made it abundantly clear that they would never eliminate Tues/Wed day off shift.

So while they sneak around and look for people who they think should not be on breaks and lunches, while they try to eliminate the 8 hour overtime ask, while they constantly jack with the bid locations and move people into crews so they don’t have to call  crew chief OT, while they try to eliminate our contractual right to shift swap, and while they give you disciplinary points for using your earned sick benefits; just make sure you remember how great the management leadership team is, and how they want to take care of their employees.

They believe this attitude towards you will greatly enhance your desire to produce for them. Try not to laugh too hard, they will attempt to take away laughing at work as well.

Stick together and warn each other when you see them in your work area. They are out looking.

Have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July weekend.

Birds

HGR 1 saw something a little different last night. AA has contracted with a man that removes birds humanly. He is using a net system and tubes. He will remove the birds/nesting birds and babies so that changes their home. The bird poop is out of control in the hangars. The company has looked and used several different options with little success. This man will be working for a few months to hopefully change that to success and getting rid of the majority of bird poop. It is a real problem and can lead to health issues. HGR 4 may be next.
