Workers Memorial Day, April 28, 2021
Every Year, over 5,000 workers in America go to work, but never return home.
The Oklahoma Workers’ Memorial Day is a solemn remembrance of the lives lost, but it is also a time for all of us to recommit to ensuring that no worker should have to die to earn a living.
Due to continued COVID-19 precautions, the 2021 Workers’ Memorial Day event will be a virtual vigil. On April 28th at 10am, a Workers’ Memorial Day Video will be released to honor those lives lost between January 1, 2019 and January 1, 2021.

Retro Pay “Project Spring”
Changes to how you’ll be paid for retro adjustments in the new payroll system
The legacy American Airlines payroll system processed retro adjustments daily, so if you had an adjustment to the hours you worked, you’d receive an off-cycle paycheck within a few days. As part of the transition to our new payroll system, we’re aligning how we pay out retro time adjustments and you’ll notice a change to when those payouts are made.
NOTE:
REMEMBER to always view your paycheck for any mistakes. Check daily on your time online to stay on top of things as the company continues to have issues with their WorkBrain System.

Protect the Right to Organize!
Tell your Senator to Support the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act
On March 9, the House of Representatives passed the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, a critical bill that will reform labor law, expand worker protections, and punish employers who violate workers’ rights.
The bill now heads to the Senate, where lawmakers have pledged to stand up and fight for workers. It’s time for them to keep that promise.
We are calling on Congress to honor essential, frontline workers by passing the PRO Act immediately to restore balance to our labor laws and give more workers the voice they need to earn a good, middle class job in our economy.
Stronger unions mean higher wages, safer working conditions, and dignity for all people who work. The PRO Act is our first step to get there.
Click Here to send a letter to your Senator asking them to vote YES on the PRO Act!
MORE INFO HERE: http://www.twu.org/pro-act/
Join us April 29 at 10am for a PRO Act Discussion!
We will be talking about how the PRO Act will improve the lives of hard-working men and women and what steps you can take to help us pass this important Act.

Bankruptcy Pay Out
Back in June of 2019, then Vice President, Ray Wilson sent out an email to all that had bankruptcy grievances, Here was the content of that communication:
Brother/Sister,
We have had pending grievances that back in 2011 were postponed due to the American Airlines bankruptcy. These cases are NOT related to the “Prefunding” issue, nor are they related to the suit that was established by local 514 on behalf of all represented members.
The cases that I have been working are monetary harm grievances that were established and remained open before the bankruptcy filing that halted our progress on them. After months of negotiations with the company attorney’s, we have settled. This settlement covers all open bankruptcy grievances with active and retired members of Local 514.
I was successful in negotiating dollar for dollar results on your open grievance(s). Which ended up being 21,529 shares to allocate for distribution valued at a $700,000 settlement for the Local 514 Members who have open grievances on file, this will be distributed in shares of stock and will be distributed in your Computershare account.
I’m pleased to inform you that you will receive XX shares valued at $XXX.XX at the time you receive this letter. To be placed in your Computershare account. If you are one of the few members that no longer have a Computershare account, we have set up an account at Local 514, and you will receive payment from there minus fees and taxes. At this time, I do not have a timeline as to when the company will distribute the shares.
In Solidarity.
Ray Wilson
Vice President

Jonathan Wayne Oliff | Senior Labor Attorney for American Airlines made the statement that a distribution will happen in July 2021.
I would hope that this will happen, but PLEASE do not hold your breath. They have told us such information in the past and it has not happened.
Oklahoma Drivers License
DO I NEED A REAL ID?
You are not required to get an Oklahoma REAL ID compliant license or identification card; however, if you plan to fly domestically or access federal facilities or military bases after October 1, 2021, you must have a REAL ID compliant license or identification card or another acceptable form of identification such as a passport or passport card. If you already have your passport, we suggest waiting to get your REAL ID compliant license when your current license expires. Here are some reasons why choosing to upgrade your Oklahoma license or identification card to REAL ID makes you a real star…

TWU Members:
While it seems easy for some to speak direct lies on social media, I would hope most speak the truth, even when it hurts. Truth is not spoken to harm anyone-it is simply truth. Speaking out on amfa and the lack of integrity within, hurt feelings in the amfa fraternity. Weak leadership within those ranks reacts by attempting (yet failing) to defame fellow workers, instead of answering back on their lack of serving. The best form of social media is the one called; Reality.
It’s a group effort where amfa fails. It is not individuals that TWU calls out, it is amfa’s lack of representation, weak track record with aircraft maintenance and work they literally give away. Saying NO to amfa is saving jobs at American Airlines and fighting for future work in our airline industry, no matter your title or work group. It seems to be amfa’s “M.O.” to speak lies to organized workers, to twist any type of story to ‘their’ truth. Amfa does this so workers that don’t do their own homework on amfa failures, will simply believe what they want to hear, as amfa plays on workers’ emotions. This can happen especially with those that have not ever worked union before and do not understand union culture and processes.
